It was never likely that Andy was going to start this thread this week, but thanks to Dysart for the puzzle.
A highly enjoyable puzzle, and more challenging than some of the previous Listeners but no harm in that. I figured that the outline was simply meant to look like hills and the solution notes confirm this. I also felt that since TORRIBLE ZONE was really a nonsense phrase, it was quite appropriate that the highlighted area made no sense either.
There were many really clever clues to raise a smile, though if I can be permitted a little criticism, it was that the use of proper names was slightly overdone, and who knew, for example, Raleigh was in North Carolina, or Bishop Ridley was burnt at the stake? Replies:
