It was with a leisurely lazy motion that Akuji turned his muds back to focus upon first the stranger that had appeared and then the others. His facade was set firmly into a glare, a not so subtle sneer painted across his kissers. They were here looking for what? A home? Sanctuary? A meaning to life? It was pathetic the way that wolves flocked to one another looking for a place to belong, so insecure in their own features that they needed the presence of others in order to define their own being. Even kalaks, royal and pure, were dirtied by these weaknesses and lived in their clans and led by royalty. The warriors followed the generals, the generals followed the Kings, and the Kings followed the Council... and thus were the strongest among them led by the weakest, for all knew that the Council was made up of the old leaders of each clan. And yet, they were never overthrown or questioned? Why? Because the way of life set forth and enforced by the Council was needed for everyone to keep order, to know where they stood in the treacherous hierarchy, to know who they were and weren't allowed to kill or marry. But Akuji was here for none of those reasons - he knew himself exactly for what he was - a monster - and was here for one reason only - Katia's safety. For though the immediate threat - Farant - was gone, the threat of the council would continue on.

As he circled and ranted at Motionless, she remained still, remained silent until finally Akuji stopped. Then, and only then did she respond, and only when he mentioned the most likely of futures for her precious Drizzt. Vicious words snapped from her tongue but Akuji merely laughed. "Is that anger at me speaking out of turn, or fear that what I say may actually be true, Queenie?" He chuckled but said nothing more as they all paused, waiting to see whether the pure ivory varg would show. Why should he? Though this had once been his home it was no longer - he belonged to another pack, another Alpha, and likely another female. Not to mention the age difference between the two - ah! - it was too perfect a recipe for disaster.

It dripped with the promise of entertainment, and Akuji was not disappointed.

First the stranger introduced himself as Xarxes. Then when at last the boy did arrive, Akuji had chuckled and uttered his thoughts aloud carelessly, earning him a warning from his Queen and though he silenced himself, his sneer remained. It progressed to the rolling of his orbs as Motionless paraded on with a monologue speaking of pain and calling for pity. Perhaps the others felt for her, but Akuji did not and could not - all that she had suffered and worse had been done to him and his siblings, but at least she had had love - they had not even had that. They had been punished not only for their errs but also simply for being alive and for Farant's amusement. But did not everyone have a dark past, a pain, a terror coming after them? Instead, he spent the time wasted on the monologue studying the opposing brute - not the pathetic white one trembling in disbelief, but rather the stranger, who seemed oddly affected by the whole of it. But why? That was the intriguing part, the part that caught Akuji's desire for more knowledge. The part Shae would have been proud of. However, Akuji's face suddenly would become stoic was when she spoke of something being released - a monster. She had one two, just as he did... and if the two ever were to meet... Akuji shook his head and did not want to linger any longer on the consequences.

Not for the first time, Akuji regretted his decision to release Perdere, to agree to the terms which the monster had made. But when Katia came into his view, Akuji's mind and heart settled with the decision and was surprised to not have Perdere leaping at the weakness to escape. Thus far the beast had been behaving perfectly, with both thrilled and terrified the kalak. Was the beast simply happy to once more have freedom? Or was he planning something terrible and horrible? No more was the sneer and smirk upon Akuji's face. Instead, with scary intensity did he stare at the princess as she entered the scene, moving to Motionless' side. Akuji's heart leapt into his throat when she looked at him, but when she went to Motionless instead of him, a low grumble rose in his chest. It stayed them, hardly above a whisper, but spoke clearly of his discontent. It was odd, perhaps, for him to show so clearly his emotion and thoughts on a matter, but he was now odd himself wasn't he? Accepting his feelings for Katia had been difficult, mainly because it meant that more blood would be spilt using his body. That he would have to be a passenger to murder after murder... but it was all worth it. And now, though he was the asshole he always had been, he found himself changed. Now being one such occasion... one such example.

But Katia had made her choice this time - to support that Alpha instead of moving to Akuji's side despite her claims of love. Once more he questioned her words, and whether she could truly love him for who... no for what he was. Anger boiled inside of him as did jealously, and Akuji immediately jumped to blame Perdere. But he inhaled sharply when he realized that Perdere was not there - these emotions were his own. Never before had he thought that some of his darkness would be separate from Perdere... but it did not change the fact that he wanted Katia for himself, and did not want to share her. After all, he still needed to protect her. Hoping to lighten at least some of the darkness in his soul, his muds swiveled toward Drizzt, hoping for entertainment.
