Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

She still wanted to leave and go search Iromar with Starfall. Since that day she had felt better, a little more hopeful, but it was still tried not to get too hopefully. She knew that it was a long shot, searching for Moteuh, but at the same time perhaps knowing for sure would bring that last bit of closure she needed. Right now though with spring fully underway Zeltzin had been focusing on the many upcoming mothers of Taviora, to make matters worse many of Taviora’s healers had either wandered to other lands or vanished leaving her as the only one able to help the mothers that now were here, there was her daughter Zelda too of course, but she had her duties as Guardian to attend too, but Zeltzin wouldn’t be beyond asking her for help if something bad came up. Four mothers she scented in their lands. Tuari, the new wolfess Talien, Astrid and Paisley. She didn’t know much about Talien but still checked in on her from a distance, but she knew Tuari had appeared quite far along and suspected she would be first. It would seem she was right.

She was excited for this litter and Talien’s but was well aware of how awkward it might also be. She didn’t judge her brother for it, and while he never outright said anything Zeltzin knew the signs. Of course she could be wrong, but her brother was working himself ragged to make sure both the females were cared for. Perhaps that also could just speak to his amazingly good nature, Zeltzin suspected other things. One or maybe even both of them could have found other males to have children with, but as thick as his scent had been around both denning areas. Well she couldn’t be sure about that, and she didn’t want to pressure him. After all who was she to judge when she too had found two different males to be with, granted Lucero had been her mate, but Eden… well she knew it could be easy to fall into the winter fever and to someone you were infatuated with. She shook her head of the thoughts though, already noticing her paws had carried her halfway to the den. She called to Dexter to assure him she was on her way, though it was muffled a bit with her racoon pelt she carried all her supplies in.

Soon though she was there, her brother in the den with the black female. There was blood, but not a lot of it, not as much as she had seen in the past at least, if there was tearing it was minor and just managing the pain of it would be the best she could do for now. Already she could hear the telltale signs of healthy puppy cries that made her heart just leap and writhe in her chest. She missed that sound, how good it made her feel, it made her long for more but she knew that was likely never going to happen again and probably shouldn’t. Shaking that thought off she set her bag down, watching as Tuari seemed to barely move. Exhausted, Zeltzin was certain of that much, her body shook slightly from the pain and likely all the effort she had to go through, but the pups they were beautiful.

She shuffled around her brother to the head of the wolfess, before hand gripping a bit of valerian root and placing it before her maw. ”For the pain. There’s not much I can do otherwise. You did fine I promise, just rest.” The red-brown, black and white female assured her, one mother to another.

Next she focused on the pups nuzzling each one getting a nice healthy grunt of protest from each of them, giving them a few licks here and there to assure they were clean as well, but it looked as though they were well taken care of and Tuari was providing milk for them. All seemed well, three girls, thus far healthy, none mute like their mother, though didn’t mean anything else would come up once their eyes and ears started opening. She took the moment too to do some sleuthing, looking at their marks and colors before pulling away and giving a contented sigh before looking to her brother and giving a rather ‘I know what you did’ look. She knew he was far from perfidious by nature. If he did do this it certainly wasn’t on purpose or to hurt anyone.

”They are all very healthy. That one is like mom. She’s not a runt, she’s too strong, just small. the middle-sized girl has your face.” She says with a light giggle playfully swatting him. ”Now do I have names for these first nieces of mine?” She asks looking to Dexter expectantly. All she knew now was she was an aunt, and all she could hope for him, and Tuari and Talien if her pups were his as well, was he was honest with them, she couldn’t read his mind know everything he felt but he better be there for these pups at least or he would get it from her.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
