Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

heros may die...but legends endure

Of course she was happy the bear was gone, that they had been successful, but the wounds before her and so prominent at that were far more pressing to her. She knew from their howls of victory that things had gone in their favor if nothing else. She was pleased when he had fallen back so that he took the pressure off so that she could treat them. Zelda was very gentle, her mother had taught her well to be firm yet soft at the same time as she dabbed it on and spread. It took a very controlled paw to be able to do such things. Though she was relieved to know he wasn’t completely immune, that it hurt, but that also bit her the wrong way too. He was willing to ignore his pain to make this report? She had no idea of his inner turmoil, worries about trying to keep himself as formal as she could with her, just because of her words last time. If she had known she would have felt a lot worse about how she had acted the last time it had been just the two of them.

He was working his hardest to look away and trying to keep talking about other things while meanwhile she was digging into him personally. She could tell she made him upset, though Zelda wasn’t all knowing. She knew the way he was acting was her fault, and it only did more to fester the guilt in her. Especially as she listened to him talk, his tones changed, strained though she couldn't’ tell if that was because she was prodding him and hurting him over and over or if he was just nervous. She looked up at him, seeing him so purposefully not looking at her as he said the were all well, no one had died and Astrid had gotten revenge for her fallen daughter. Alexander probably didn’t know that her drive was related to that, but it sounded like that drive was what helped secure her victory. It was a black bear though… not the golden one that Tithe and Teza had faced down. That one was still out there, and next time Zelda would go personally… Astrid should stay behind… a wolf with that much drive was likely to get hurt if she didn’t look out for herself.

She gave another few pat downs of his wounds before she finally could say her apology, though he seemed surprised as his head snapped around and she almost flinched in sympathy pain as she felt his muscles coil with the movement. Zelda wasn’t sure why he was surprised, she acted completely out of sorts that day, she was caught in a large wave of darkness and self doubt. She figured it out though, she had found Mana and started training and learning to figure it out, her role was finally getting sorted out.

He was silent though, he didn’t say a word to her in regards to her apology and she felt herself wilt a little. She tried, but it seemed he didn’t entirely forgive her, at least that was how she saw it. She wanted the joking, playful Alexander to come back out. While she didn’t mind professionalism it wasn’t what she had grown used to in their other meetings. All her apology sat forgotten and she simply started on his shoulder next, treating each wound delicately as he explained that he didn’t like plants that inhibited pain for their aftereffects some could cause. She knew poppies were very strong could cause many issues, even addictions, valerian root could make you tired so she understood. She gave a small nod in understanding, before her tan ears perked at his next words. For the first time in sometime he had called her her name instead of Goddess, it wasn’t the full on acceptance she was hoping for, but it was a start. He continued though, her eyes going to his though quickly she found her eyes lightening and her head shaking.

She almost could have laughed by the end of it, if she thought it wouldn’t upset him more. He acted as he should, it was her that hadn’t ”You were trying to be a good friend, Alexander. That was what you were trying to do. I may have a right to speak however I wish, but I did not mean to take my frustration out on you when you were simply doing what friends do. I… was less than a friend, let alone a ‘Goddess’ that day. I enjoy your banter, your stories, just that day I was a little lost. I instantly regretted how I snapped at you and sent you away, and been working ever since to make sure it wouldn’t happen again.” She said almost imploringly hoping he understood. ”I found someone to train me, outside of Taviora. One of the angel’s old blood Assassins.” She hadn’t imparted that knowledge to anyone else yet, but she figured he was the first that should know. He wanted to help, but she also wanted to prove she could help herself. She was doing everything she could to never feel the way she did that day again.

She was pleased with her work though, and he seemed to be too. Though hopefully his look was a little brighter now than it had been before. She didn’t want to talk to a stone wall all day, she wanted the fun Knight she had pushed away back.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
