The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

So furious were each of the wolves that neither acted rationally at all. In fact, Macaria wanted nothing more than to devour him, so closely tied were her emotions to her hunger. But she held herself back and instead loosened her rage upon him with violent spewed words and actions she knew would wound him. How clearly she could see through him, how thoroughly she knew him plainly because she had spent so much time with him before. In fear, she had spent months hunkered down in the back of his cavern, waiting to be injured by him or another pack member. For months she had taken care of his own wounds, listened to his complaints, heard his mumblings whilst he slept. She knew him, and knew names from his past even though she did not know all of their relationships to Grey Wind himself. But she knew that he was in pain, and that though he led a dark pack he had not always been that way... which made this all easier as her own darkness spilled out.

Slowly, purposefully, she had dragged her claws against her own flesh, relishing in the way he cringed and demanded her to stop such behavior. What she didn't relish, however, was the tiredness that crept into her bones and through all of her being. She wanted to credit it to the fact that he had woken her in the middle of sleep, but she knew elsewise. She knew of her feelings for him, as much as she wanted to forget them, and even her darkness could not contend forever against the wishing of her heart. Hurting him hurt her too, but the pain as just dulled as all of it was. And so she had told him to leave her alone. The eboness had turned to enter to her den and rest - even though she knew her hunger would never allow her to - but stopped when he called for her once more.

'Macaria, wait.'

She shook her head emphatically, but stopped nonetheless. "What? What is it that you want Grey?" He moved in front of her and continued his monologue in as vague of terms as he ever had.

'We need to talk. Things haven't been good between us. I'm not... good at talking about this type of situation. But I've come to realize that I have certain... feelings... for you.' Macaria laughed bitterly and rolled her eyes, eyelids fluttering with the motion.

"No shit, Sherlock. You are just figuring this out now? That is not the problem. The problem is that you are not dealing with them. And we have never been good between us - our relationship if it can even be called that started with you kidnapping an innocent young wolf and abusing her so that you could control her and force her to take care of your wounds. Don't you see, Grey? It has always been all about you, but now that I am who I am now and I am capable of more force it isn't just about you, and that threw you for a loop. I'm not asking you to change, but you can't expect me to now either - I have already changed and there is no going back for me now that I have become... this. Even if you accept your feelings for me you will have to accept that too - that there will always be someone else. That my meals will include the consumption of our own kind. Moreover, that the two of those statements will usually be intertwined." She sighed, almost too tired to continue. Her cannibalism from her vampiric state was something she herself accepted and she did not care if others shared in her meals or didn't... but for some reason, or rather the reason, she cared about how Grey Wind viewed her new appetite. As for her sexual hunger... well... she wasn't sure he would be able to accept that.

"The sex for me is driven by my hunger, you see. Sometimes it calms it, sometimes it intensifies it..." She thought briefly of Padfoot and smiled. "But there are no feelings, no emotions in it for me. Except, of course..." Her pools raised until they fell upon Grey. "... with you. You had my heart before it saw fit to necrose and blacken. There will never be another to touch it." A bitter laugh fell from her lips, drawing another smile. "You have ruined me, Grey, for all others in that department." She fell silent and as she did, her face fell into something stoic and still - her armor of which she previously had none. It was odd - her present persona, which leapt from one extreme to another without ever balancing out into a grey zone. Perhaps it was because of her vampirism, or perhaps her emotional extremes were a balance for her lack of ability to feel emotional pain. Whichever it was, she would say no more on the matter until he responded to some of her spewed words.
