Florida City to open Sunday June 11th Posted on May 23, 2017 at 03:41:37 PM by Jeff "Laca" Conway
According to the Hialeah Park website, the new jai-alai fronton will open Sunday, June 11th at 12 noon - not June 10th as reported here earlier.
The place will only be open two other dates that month - Friday June 16th and Sunday June 18th before opening for a solid 2 performances a day starting July 4th and ending August 20th.
There apparently will be a full roster of professional players according to the website but the NJAA has been unable to acquire confirmation from those involved yet. An announcement is expected soon. This is only a little more than two weeks away, so lets hope we get some news so many of us can plan the trip. I'm more excited on checking out the glass court more than anything else, and even hope to throw the ball around on it if possible.
I'm looking at hitting Ft. Piece on the 9th - Friday - for the two performances at 12 noon and 6pm, and then Dania for the two performances Saturday the 10th, and then Sunday for the noon performance at Florida City. The drive from St. Pete to Ft. Piece is about 3 hours and the drive between Ft. Piece and Dania is about 1 hour 51 minutes, while Dania to Florida City 1 hour and 11 minutes, thus making the trip feasible. The trip back from Florida City will be the long one of about 5 1/2 hours. Replies: There have been no replies.
