Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

He didn't know what the late ruler of Iromar looked like to know just how much Zharko resembled him or he might have picked up on that earlier. However, it might help him better in recognizing future relatives of the late tyrant when he saw them now, if they all had this same appearance. The eyes stood out, if nothing else. He was glad there were wolves like Pine and Jackdaw in this world to pick up the pieces after something like this happens and help reunite the family members. Maybe it would help them move on from Aranck's death and their troubled childhood. It was something, at least. He wasn't offended at all that Zharko wanted to go back to Iromar with Jackdaw. Zelda must have been expecting it at some point anyway. She wasn't one to stand in the way of family since it meant so much to their lineage. She would understand. Jackdaw glanced his way for a moment but didn't say anything before looking back at Zharko. He told him that he looked like Aranck and Dexter grimaced, not sure if Zharko would take that as an insult or compliment, based on what he had heard of their upbringing.

Jackdaw seemed troubled by the idea of someone trying to hurt Zharko's sister. This boded well to Dexter, if only because it reaffirmed that Jackdaw did care about what happened to the children of Aranck. Dexter heard the short lived growl cut short from his lips and held his growl, sure that it wasn't intended for anyone present. It was interesting to watch the body language conversation between Jackdaw and Zharko. Zharko was very confident for how young he was but Dexter had seen confidence in pups before so that wasn't so new. Jackdaw meanwhile seemed okay with his domineering presence, as if he was used to others being in control. So Jackdaw was a follower then. Jackdaw offered to take him to Iromar now and Dexter smiled encouragingly, glad to see something good come of this. He only wanted a little more information so that he could continue on his promise to Zharko.

Zharko didn't look happy about the comment of his looks, his eyes narrowing. Dexter's ears flicked back. No son should be unhappy about being told they are like their father. He never wanted that from his own children. He hoped they would always be proud to be told they look like or act like him. He got a name from Zharko, Zafira. It was a pretty name and hopefully it would stand out when he asked others about her. And even more good news, Zharko had a direction in mind. Glorall. Of course, the pack that he was already investigating for his own brother's poisoning. His jaw clenched a little at this news but at least the two could be left separate. Eden had no idea that he was being investigated so until Alistair and him confronted him with evidence, he should be free to roam with the packs still allies until proven otherwise.

He nodded.

"Thank you, that's very helpful. I'll go check it out while you go to Iromar. I will update you when I have something. I won't let you down."

Either way, he was either coming back to him with Zafira or with news of her. He scowled when Zharko said that they were trying to make her into a slave. His eyes darkened at the thought of any pup being made a slave. If Eden allowed such things in his pack then that was the least of their concerns. He could see the anxiety still in Zharko's eyes when he thought of his sister and Dexter felt for him. He knew he would be worried sick if something like that happened to Zeltzin. He liked the softness in Zharko's voice when he said his sister looked like their mother. It let him know Zharko cared for her deeply. Then he turned to Jackdaw, asking to be taken to his other siblings. At least he wouldn't just be pacing around restless and worrying about Zafira now. Dexter would handle that burden for him. It was odd how he hesitated before offering a please, as if simple words such as that were foreign to him and yet still he chose to use it. That meant something to Dexter. Some part of Zharko wanted to be good. Now as long as he wasn't dubious about Dexter finding Zafira cause he meant what he said. He wouldn't let him down.

He let them take their leave from Taviora, nodding a respectful farewell to Jackdaw and Zharko, his eyes twinkling in a "see you again" kind of way and he watched until they disappeared from view before he turned and headed out of Taviora him, heading toward the smell of the ocean and the borders of Glorall.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
