Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Citlalli
Female ~ 0 YEARS OLD ~ 35IN/169LBS ~ Born To Dexter X Tuari
Sibling to Petra & Itzel

She felt that they had exhausted pretty much all the nooks and crannies that the den had to offer but trips outside were scarce at this age. She felt rebellious at times and did toe that invisible line, feeling pulled by outside forces to see what the world had to offer but her sisters always found a way to warn her from the edge or someone found a parent to bring into the mix. It was quite frustrating but she couldn't hold a grudge against her siblings. They were too important to her. She tried to think of new games for them to play, ones that Itzel could be involved in, of course. They made up characters and romped around the den, hunting invisible bad guys and taking down the forces of evil. It was all well and fun but there had to be more to life than this. Citlalli was sure of it. At least she had her sisters to play with, though. Petra had the same sense of adventure that she did and pretty much went along with anything. Itzel was a little more hesitant but when she wasn't stuck in her own mind, she wanted to be involved too and that gave them more leeway with their imagination.

Even their mom and dad got involved in their play at times, taking the role of either a good guy alongside them or the infamous villian they had to slay. It was always fun when Dexter played the bad guy. He would give this evil chuckle and wink at them like it was all a big inside joke. Then when they "slayed" the bad guy, he would make all these agonizing noises and give them a big dramatic death. Then they got to celebrate on top of his "corpse" until their mom herded them away to give him breathing space. It was great having this big family but she sensed early that their dad couldn't always be around. It was like something else was always constantly pulling him away from them and Citlalli couldn't quite put her paw on it. He was always happy when he was with them but she sensed that there was also a part of him that was unhappy, like there was somewhere else he'd be if he could. She didn't want to voice her concerns because she wasn't even sure she was reading it right and she didn't want to cause trouble. For now, she could only wonder.

But today there was a distraction, which was different. A new wolf appeared at the entrance of the den, talking of celebration and inviting them to come somewhere. It had to be fun, right? She jumped up and down around her sister, looking at her mom.

"Oh, mom, can we go, can we go?"

She just had to say yes, right? And then their saving grace came in the form of their dad! He was ushering them outside, talking with Tuari before letting them know that they were going to this puppy celebration thing. Oh, that sounded like such fun! She bounced ahead, but quickly sensed that they were not alone. Another pup raced just ahead. She hadn't noticed him before. He wasn't talking and yet there was part of him that seemed...almost like Dexter. Citlalli paused, glancing from him to her dad and back again. There was a resemblence and the scents...there was something familiar about the boy's smell. She was confused but easily distracted when toys were presented before her. She gasped.

"Look, Petra, Itzel. Lovely shiny interesting toys!"

She had to let them know just in case they were on her heels. Surely they had to know about the toys! And then she raced into the circle, but her attention was once more diverted by the silent boy who leaped from toy to toy, clearly overwhelmed. She giggled and nudged at the closest sibling to her.

"Isn't he adorable? Look at him, unable to choose just one!"

It was clear that she understood his dilemma though as she looked around herself. What to do, where to go first? There were shiny rocks and striated rocks and spotted rocks and then the sticks, oh, the sticks! But the smell of fresh meat caught her attention and she raced over to the fawn, looking it over with hunger and awe. She glanced up at the nearest wolf.

"Excuse me, sir. Is this for us?"

She had been taught her manners and knew how to be polite. Her tail wagged eagerly as she licked her chops and stared at the fawn. She knew she wasn't starving or anything but just a bite of that leg should be enough. She was most just amazed that there was food involved in this celebration too. They had thought of everything!

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
