When solid ground grows soft with emerald moss and rivulets of black mud, and coffee-colored water pours slowly around the trunks of densely carpeted trees, this marks the beginning of Laod Mor: the swamp of Blossom Forest. Time itself seems to slow to a soporific crawl . . . the humid jungle air grows stagnant, thick with the scent of rich flooded earth and an abundance of green things that can be found nowhere else—except perhaps Caidir Olc. In some areas of the swamp, water rises so high the only way to cross it is to crawl across fallen logs or massive roots arching from their liquid beds; in other places a wolf might wade easily through the mire—or find a fortunate stretch of mostly dry earth. Pieces of the great river, Glaesfaet Sceawere, also slice through from time to time: small falls that feed into surprisingly clear pools, only to terminate into tar-like pits. Of course, Laod Mor’s beauty shines brightest at night. Here, fireflies gather at all times of the year . . . suffusing the shadowy place with millions of twinkling lights.

Those looking to hunt here of course find a myriad of water prey, including caiman, turtles, fish, crayfish, otters, and toads.

Step. Stop. Inhale. Step. Stop. Exhale. Step. Stop. Inhale. Step. Stop...

This process continued through the pup's mind as he slowly trekked his way to the river. His body was still trembling from his past seizure, but slow paces would help him calm down. His eyes were closed, so all he could see was blackness. This helped with the calming process in a physical aspect. When it came to the mental state of mind, he was never calm. Constant thoughts clouded his mind, in single words.

Step. Stop. Mother. Inhale. Step. Alone. Stop. Exhale. Step. Father. Stop. Inhale. Step. Clear. Stop. Exhale. Step. Calm. Stop. Inhale. Freak.

Once that word surfaced in his mind, the boy was not able to control himself. The titan was moving five times the speed he was before, but felt as if his paws were moving faster than his pillars. He squeezed his eyes tighter. As each paw hit the ground, another step was thrown into his mind.

His mind could not keep up.

The white child moved faster, almost in a full blown sprint. Somehow, he was still upright. This was a surprise, only because his limbs and bodice were lanky and unhealthily thin. VAX could feel his chest getting tighter and tighter, and was trying to get a hold of his thoughts.

The body did what the mind told, but it was horribly timed. What made his body stop was tripping over a stone. His lanky body tumbled towards the shallow river of Staircase Falls, where he finally made the complete stop. However, he was definitely scratched up. With just a sniff, the smell of iron filled the air around him. VAX was afraid to open his eyes. All he knew was that he was in major pain. As he was about to call out, the heaviness covered him.

Not. Now.

The white pup started to seize in the shallow water, his light blue eyes visible, but rolled slightly into the back of his cranium. Rabies was non-existent in him, but surely any passerby would assume he was infected, and veer away quickly. However, this was not an issue for VAX. He was never helped out before, and if this be his end, so be it.
