Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Citlalli
Female ~ 0 YEARS OLD ~ 35IN/169LBS ~ Born To Dexter X Tuari
Sibling to Petra & Itzel

She never thought her family was odd in any weay, shape, or form. It was all she had ever known so the fact that her mother didn't talk and her sister didn't hear very well didn't bother her in the least. How was she to know that everyone else could talk and hear? Even once she found out, she wouldn't think of them any differently. She still thought Itzel just had a clod of dirt or something still stuck in her ears and she thought maybe her mom liked to be sneaky so she chose not to make vocal noises. Dad seemed to understand her just fine. She watched them have conversations and mom would move her lips and dad would reply back or nod or shake his head as necessary. He never seemed to look confused, just as when he spoke to Itzel, he would never look puzzled when she spoke to him. He just took his time when he spoke to her, wanting to make sure she understood before he would say anything else.

When Petra moved the rock, the lizard took off but the words of Itzel sent them all flying forward. Petra raced beside her as they scurried after the lizard, the flames of the hunt alive in both sisters. Itzel got to the bush before them, cutting off the lizard's escape and she watched Petra position herself so if Citlalli somehow missed, she would have a chance to catch it, but Citlalli didn't plan on missing. She pounced and felt the squirming of victory between her paws. But now what? She held her paws motionless, afraid to move them all lest the beast escape. Petra exclaimed her excitement at the victory before she leaned down and sniffed her paws. Apparently she thought it smelled funny cause she snorted and moved back but she too looked a little puzzled as to what they do next. Petra made a suggestion of eating it and Citlalli screwed up her face in a disgusted look. But it was so slimy! It was nothing at all like the chewed up meat mom and dad brought them to eat. What if they got sick? She smirked teasingly at Petra.

"You first, then. Your idea."

Her eyes glittered, wanting to see that show though she could see that Itzel was just as disgusted at the idea. Itzel was super excited that she got to help them catch it though, her wide toothy grin not lost on Citlalli, who grinned back at her and wagged her tail in response, wanting to join in her excitement. Itzel sniffed the lizard between her paws too but apparently it looked disgusting to all of them. So what to do? Itzel voiced her opinion though, saying that she didn't want to eat it and that they could. Citlalli grimaced at the prospect as she felt the lizard squrim at her paws again, trying to escape. Itzel stuck out her tongue then moved behind Petra in that stubborn, unmovable way she had that told them she wasn't going to budge. It was quite the adorable trait of their sister but Citlalli adored her either way. Petra brought up asking their parents and Citlalli frowned and shook her head.

"We need to figure it out on our own. Mom will think we're not big enough to go out of the den if we can't even hunt and kill prey by ourselves. We have to....we have to kill it."

She said it with a heavy sigh, looking at her paws in a sad way. She didn't want to kill it but she didn't want to let it go either. What if mom saw and was disappointed in them for not having the killing instinct? They were predators. This was in their blood! So why was it so hard? No one had gotten them prepared for this. This wasn't in dad's story of the bear they hunted. She grimaced at Petra.

"If I kill it, you eat it, okay?"

This sounded fair enough to her. After all, she would be doing the hard part.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
