News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

yes all men must die, but we are not men.

She isn’t quite sure why she is nervous, but is something she can’t quite shake as she sits next to her mother. Somehow she manages to keep the tremble out of her voice as she makes her request for she knew that what she asked was no small matter. There was a weight that came with being a daughter of the mountain and she could feel the heaviness upon her slender shoulders now. Taking this step meant that everything was no longer about her but about the wolves that they sheltered within their home and that she would have to protect, to act to their benefit over her own. Her moon-rimmed pupils dance as they watch for her mother’s reaction, though as practiced a politician as Daenerys is there is little to none that can been found. Instead she responds cool and calm, ever the queen whose blood had sat atop the mountain throne for generations now.

The girl listened solemnly, attempting to reflect the poise and stature of the she-wolf she had looked up to her entire life, and took time in considering the question before she replied. She had assumed something like this would be asked of her, some reason of why it should be her and it was something that the prideful girl had struggled with to be honest. While she possessed many fine qualities, more than a few appeared to others to only be skin deep, but the self-reflection she had been undergoing even since they had lost their home to the usurper had refined her as fire to refined gold.

Her back arched, perhaps a bit proudly but some habits were hard to break, and she lifted her chin as if accepting a challenge before responding. She hated the idea that one day her mother or sister may not be around to protect the mountains but it was a reality that needed facing. “There was once a time that as a pup I yearned for the crown, and a time not too long after that it terrified me. Our families pawprints are large ones to fill for any wolf, but time and family have been good teachers.” She nods slightly to herself, reflecting back on what even her few short years had already taught her. “I will never forget the day we lost our home any more than I can forget the feeling of returning to it seasons later. It solidified in me that this is where I belong, that nothing else will ever call to me the way these steep mountains do, it is in my blood to do whatever I can for this pack.”

Dark eyes sweep out toward the trees for a moment, reflecting for a moment before she continued. “I don’t know that I deserve the position.” Prideful as she is it’s a hard thing to admit but true, what had she done in her life to prove herself worthy? “All I know is that there is nothing I would not do for Spirane or the wolves who seek shelter and home here. I am capable to help defend them, Uncle Taliesin trained me during our time in Diveen, and I am loyal to what Spirane has always stood for. I would do whatever is necessary to keep our family safe.” For their pack had always been family even beyond blood, and they all mattered.

It was strange, the girl never had issue talking about herself, it was one of her favorite subjects, but the seriousness of this matter gave her pause. “I know you once thought I would be your heir.” The words are a bit hushed, tinged with what might be seen as shame at the fact. “While I loved the title after we had to leave the pressure and responsibility that came with it scared me. That so many would depend on you to stand in the gap for them was something that was not reality until that moment.” Her dark muzzle lifted a bit defiantly, turning her face back to Daenerys once more, “but I have changed and I feel now that I can embrace the responsibility rather than run from it. I know if required I would do whatever it takes for you, for Nym, and for Spirane.”

She had not intended to give such a speech, but it was a subject she had grown more and more passionate about. If she had been this wolf seasons ago she would have accepted the position of heir without question or hesitation, but no one could have extrapolated the idea of what she would become and she did not hold it against her mother or sister now or ever. Time had molded her from the self-indulged princess to a worthy she-wolf and while she did still find herself beautiful it no longer affected her judgement or ability.
