Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Dexter
male.11 years old.35in, 145#.born to MothxCoszcotl.sibling to Amoxtli&Zeltzin.unable to bind.mated to none.father to Eztli, Lixue, Petra, Citlalli, & Itzel.Taviora

He hoped that to his dad's dying day, he would never know the secrets Dexter was keeping from him. Though he hated not be able to share all parts of his life with Coza, somehow he didn't think his dad would ever truly accept what he did. He only wanted Coza to have peace, especially now in his later years. He wanted him to be happy more than anything and to him, that meant thinking Dexter only helped out with the pack and had families he was providing for. He would rather Coza know that he had a litter with two different females than ever tell him that he killed other wolves for a living. He knew that the pack must not have found out why Tobias and the others came to Taviora that fateful day years ago. Otherwise they probably wouldn't have welcomed him back into the pack like he did. He just knew he had to be more careful from now on.

Dexter asked about the grandchildren and Coza started looking a little sad. He admitted that he didn't know much but maybe Zeltzin knew more about where the children liked to go. Dexter nodded.

"I'll speak to her about it. I'm sure they'll turn up to visit soon."

He was sorta hoping they would to give Coza some happiness before that fateful day that he knew would come some time. Coza looked so worried about him and it didn't do good for him to stress. Dexter furrowed his brows in concern for his dad, wanting him to know only peace. That's what he deserved. Dexter's attention went back to Coza as he shited before him and then sat down slowly, acting like he was getting stiff. Dexter hated seeing him like this. He only knew him as the strong father figure in his life. He got to smile though when Coza told him that Moth would probably agree about the herbs and that he wasn't going to see the sky gods just yet. Dexter nodded.

"Good cause I'm not ready. I'm going to need some help with these young'uns before they put me in an early grave."

He said teasingly, his eyes glittering happily at his dad to let him know he was joking. Coza seemed thoughtful for a while after that and Dexter couldn't begin to guess where his mind had wandered off to. He didn't know about Fathom or Cenmatl, only that he was in definite need of some wise wisdom from Coza on how to handle this delicate situation with Tuari and Talien. Coza seemed thoughtful again when he brought up how tortured he felt, how his heart felt torn in two. He tried to read his dad's expression and for the most part, he felt that Coza agreed with him on how it must feel to imprint. Of course, Coza had more experience with that than Dexter since he had never gotten that chance. His father told him that most of the time the imprint was found second and the mate was found first. Dexter grew thoughful now.

Of course he'd met Tuari first but she was his childhood friend and they were never anything more than that until just before winter. He had met Talien not long after coming back to Moladian and brought her on a hunt with him before bringing her to Taviora. Even then, he had felt attracted to her in a mysterious way. He felt drawn to her and protective of her from the beginning. In a way, he saw a future with Talien because of the wolf she made him feel that he could be. Tuari made him feel the wolf he was, the wolf who killed killers and yet still brought light to the world. She knew his deepest darkest secret and still loved him. It was beyond him how he deserved such affection.

Coza told him that he hadn't spent much time with Fathom before Moth came along and that the bond was too strong. He admitted that maybe if he had known Fathom longer, she would have become more but as it were, it sounded like his mind was made up the moment he met Moth. So with him, it was the second wolf he met and found an interest in, but he had fate to guide him in a way. Dexter felt cheated. Why couldn't it be so easy for him? Coza admitted that he was trying to help and he knew the situation was very different. He couldn't understand what Dexter was going through but he was really trying and Dexter was grateful for that. He nodded and offered a loving smile.

"I know, dad. I appreciate it."

At least he could make Coza happy when he told him that he could see the children. He loved seeing his dad's face light up like that. He told him he loved the names and said he couldn't wait to see them. Dexter wagged his tail too, the happiness contagious. Then he said that he would like the help on getting the offering and that he would get Tepi and Tezi too to help. Dexter nodded, glad to meet some more of his nephews that he felt too much of a stranger towards.

"Sounds like a plan. Should we call for them?"

Of course it didn't change the problem he was having but Coza added in some last words of wisdom that made him feel better. He said that his children would always love him no matter what and touched him with his nose as if pointing out that he himself had always come back. Dexter gave him a smile tinged in sadness because he hated that he wasn't here for so long. He told Dexter that he was sure it would all work out. Dexter let out a sigh.

"I hope so, dad. I hope so."

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
