Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

- Zelda -

Zelda knew she should have expected it. Pine was understandably upset, angry. Though no blame seemed to rest on Zelda’s shoulders she still blamed herself for being how she was. Like Cenmatl, Zelda was brought up with an understanding that all life was precious, to take a life, to give life, all of it was something that should not be something considered lightly. It was life changing and was precious, though it certainly was not easy for someone with morals such as her family to deal with. She looked to Cenna, knowing he was brought up the same way, knew what she believed. Zelda could never bring the end of someone herself. Ironic then that she was training in one of the angels oldest traditions that often brought death. She didn't want to kill with it though, she wanted to protect.

Her grandfather lived with the ghosts of all the lives he was forced to take when he was young, he escaped that life started living by his own tenants and then spread them to his family and those around him. In theory it would be amazing in a perfect world where no one killed and hurt others. Cenna even told her not to blame herself, he understood, but it was difficult for her not to feel some level of responsible. After all the bitter tones in Pine’s voice, the death of the wolfess would all have been absent if she had done more. Zelda was learning that darkness settled upon wolves like a cloud. A cloud she didn’t want to see settle over the small wolfess that stood before her, or her family. She was family now, she was mates to her cousin, and while Zelda wasn’t sure if she should have let things be how they ended with Aranck, they were what they were.

She was watching as the light wolfess seemed more tainted, darkened than they had been when they first met. Even though she had always known of her intentions, or at least suspected she didn’t think it would affect the wolfess in such a way. Her worries were further confirmed when Pine’s anger flared that she said she would figure out what happened and yelled causing Zelda to flinch slightly. She knew Pine was upset, yelling didn’t solve anything. She knew Pine hurt, that many alpha’s Zelda included considered pack mates as extended family. Cenna though seemed much calmer, pensive even. He tried to explain that it didn’t feel right though Zelda didn’t understand why. He explained it was all too convenient, like Arace wanted to be found? Zelda worried about Diveen, perhaps it was them that Arace truly was trying to frame now. That was a lot to think about, it wasn’t going to do them any good here.

Pine finally apologized, promising if they found her she would at least be given a fair trial. What was there to try? She was guilty, caught by scent and she highly doubted anyone could frame her without leaving an ounce of their own scent behind. ”A fair trial, with only one outcome.” Zelda said, tones sounding sad, quiet.” She let those words hang in the air as Pine explained that Eleanor was a mother, she had five children. It wasn’t like Zelda didn’t know that or understand, but it only seemed to reaffirm what Zelda thought. The only thing a fair trial within Iromar would give her is death. ”Would it be possible to keep her here under Iromar guards? Once you caught her, that is.” She offered, of course that couldn’t last forever, but there could always be deeper holes. Perhaps wolves assigned to the sole duty of keeping prisoners here. It was an alternative, something to think about other than killing them.

Cenmatl intervened though, asking if Starfall would help. He didn’t say anything about killing her, he understood where Zelda was coming from, she knew it, but she was hesitant in involving him if it meant marching his imprint to death. Pine had to understand, if she killed Arace, Starfall would suffer for it too. An innocent wolf who had nothing to do with any of this would feel that pain of being ripped apart. She couldn’t say how deep their bond was, but it was a bond, she had heard tales of how killing an imprint could end the life of their partner, it almost claimed her grandfather when Moth died. Perhaps Pine had not known such things.

”If I call him, you will be transparent with him.” She didn’t ask she told them, ”I don’t want false promises given to Starfall. I want you to know if she dies, it could hurt, even kill, an innocent, good wolf, who had nothing to do with it. Lives are tied to other lives, that you may not know in ways you don’t expect. She is evil, there is no doubts, but you must always think of the bonds these wolves may have with others. My grandfather always said, the cycle of death and killing has to end somewhere. So please... if you could show mercy.” She let her words sink in giving them a moment to reply before tilting her head back and calling out to the star marked angel. She would let him decide. He had not stopped them from capturing Arace the first time, he had helped, she hoped he would help again, but with this potential end, she wouldn’t blame him if his mind had changed.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
