Beach Boys Britain
Re(4): This time 45 years ago

Was not old enough to experience the 'Holland' era. My first exposure was picking it up in the 'twofer' format with So Tough. I can't say So Tough is one of my faves, and I think it brought down my opinion of Holland a wee bit. Over time though I have come to regard it as a classic. I think Mike's Big Sur is among his finest moments. Great song, sung amazingly well in that lower good as anything from the 'Singer-Songwriter' gems from that era ( CSN, Eagles etc)
I don't lament the arrival of Endless Summer, and the shift back towards the Sun/Surf era...this was inevitable and the reason the band still is with us. But it sure would have been interesting to hear what the follow up to Holland would have been if they stayed on this path
