Torram's gaze kept slipping back to Thea's face, still reeling a bit from the time difference between his homeworld and Shaman. In the years he'd spent back at his parent's side, he'd often wondered what time was doing to those still in Shaman; how they were changing, and growing. He'd been quite certain Thea would be married by the time he got back, and that they could fondly reminisce over their past friendship and joke about the crush he'd "used to" have on the girl. He'd imagined all of his friends growing up, setting out on their own paths, but to return and find that only six months had gone by... It would take some time for his mind to catch up.

"Right?" Torram returned, feeling just as breathless as Thea sounded at the moment. His mind still reeling, he decided not to dwell too much on it at the moment (lest he go a bit crazy trying to picture what else might have changed or not in his time away) and bent to pick up Fennel. It gave a nice opportunity for the introduction, though he did feel a bit weird trying to explain that particular bit of magic to the girl. He didn't miss the small glance to Leto; even Torram knew how strange it was that Minerva was no more, and Fennel was now his familiar... He, however, had had years to get used to the change.

Fennel bobbed her head politely at Thea's acknowledgement, sensing but not commenting on the bit of discomfort. Personally she thought she was much more fun than the old fuddy-duddy bird/okapi thing she'd once been, but to each their own, she supposed. She satisfied herself with irritating Torram by flicking her tail at his ear every few seconds; he stopped noticing when Thea explained.

"Jeez," he said, rather anti-climatically, as he eyed the dome anew. A small smile curved on his face, his head shaking a bit at the madness of it all. "I think I could live to be a million and this place would still somehow manage to surprise me."

His amusement faded at the uncertainty in her voice, his eyes trying and failing to read her expressions in the dark; there was something there, he thought, something she didn't want to say. His smile was a bit forced, but he quickly shook off the sense of foreboding that swamped him. If these years had taught Torram anything, it was that hope was never completely lost. Just look at him! He should've died all those years ago, that night when they'd somehow found Shaman and Mallos himself had saved his life. Why couldn't something like that have happened to Birch? He patted Thea's shoulder companionably, not sure if his smile was visible or not.

"I haven't yet, but I'm sure I'll find her and Oli there! Thanks for the tip!" he said, his cheerfulness a bit forced but his attempt to stay positive quite obvious.

"So... Anything else new?" he asked with a small laugh, glancing up towards the dome again.
