aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Some are born great
Some achieve greatness

It was like a dream really, the way the anger molded with his body. It was so familiar and yet foreign all at once, as if he had pulled a second skin over him. So surprised was Vladimir by it that he had done nothing but growl in response to Kael's sudden approach. He had quieted slightly when Seraphina had spoken, but ever did the rumble remain, his new irises pouring over the opposing titan... for while Seraphina clearly thought the best of Kael, Vladimir did not. He could see into his heart and what was there was black - a lump of festering, necrotic detritus that was selfish and power-hungry. Kael would never let Seraphina go - he needed her, he wanted her. But if Seraphina wanted to stay here, then there was no way Vladimir would let her go either. He was to protect her at all costs, his love, his own heart. In Castiel's absence she would be the yin to his yang, his second half. While it was true that they were very alike, her stubbornness and temper able to match his wit for wit, she was kind at heart and innocent and pure. Vladimir would not let anything taint her soul.

As he had expected, Kael refuted her claims, called her a mere child who knew naught of the world or of the words and emotions that she spoke of. And then the Eithiopian had made a fatal mistake - or rather two. The first had been to move so close to Seraphina, to threaten her, to roughly grap her scruff and yank hard upon it. The second was to underestimate Vladimir. Without a though Vladimir had leapt forward, muscles he had not even known he had tensed releasing, powering his body toward the brute. Kael may be older, and stronger... but he had not the family that Vladimir did. Kalgalath, his father, had taught him how to fight, and every day had been a duel - albeit playful - with Castiel. Constant motion had put him into prime shape, and while he lacked experience in true fighting himself, he had seen enough of them. And right now? He was picturing his half-brother, Aindreas, and the fight that had occurred between him and Jorah. Vladimir knocked into Kael's right shoulder with his left, maw immediately closing down onto Kael's nape. Vladimir kicked out hard, hopefully pushing Seraphina away from the fight that was about to ensue. The landing was not what he had expected - any time he had rustled with Castiel, they had been younger, smaller, weaker. The combined weight of the two combatants was enough to knock the wind from Vladimir's lungs, and he released Kael and tucked his feet lung quickly in order to rise.

"I am a Tempest. You shall know me."

Where the words came from, Vladimir knew, came from the voices he had heard during the time when his heart had stopped. He knew too that elsewhere any of his kin currently in Blossom Forest would be changing too - undergoing the same excruciating metamorphosis that he had. And he knew that he could not lose this fight. Without another word, Vladimir rushed in, aiming for Kael's jugular vein. But that was not his target. His father's words echoed in his mind:

If you make a typical attack, they will make a typical defense. But if you attack diverges from the normal at last minute, they will not see it coming.

And so that is what he did. Right before he would hit, when he knew that Kael would have the good sense to evade, He changed his tactic. His hind limbs came under him to push him quickly forward, his haunches moving to the side to avoid any attack from Kael's own jaws, and dipped his head low and sideways so that his teeth would come up to grasp Kael's left stifle. Teeth would wrap around the joint and then Vladimir would keep running, hoping to cut through the supporting ligaments that lay on the inside and outside of the limb, perhaps even dislocate or crush the patella. Silently, he thanked his mother and Hellene for the lessons they had given him in anatomy, despite his hatred of those very classes. The next instant, he was turning, his jaw sore from the ricochet, but already it was opening as he leapt again, aiming for Kael's back - the lumbar spine, soft tissue on either side of it. It had none of the support of the ribs, and if he aimed correctly, he may even be able to puncture into the abdomen on one side. But that would just be a bonus. More than anything, he aimed to cut deep grooves through Kael's epaxial muscles, thereby destabilizing his back. Bit by bit he would break the older brute down... all the while hopefully avoiding injury himself. Dancing away on limber paws, he watched for the retaliation. If he had hit both of his marks, the time for the fight to end would be near. If not... well there was time later to worry about such things.
