Some are born great
Some achieve greatness

Though Vladimir had been well trained, the success in his battle was not dictated merely by that, but rather was also compounded upon the fact that Kael was arrogant and untrained. Kael had clearly been used to either having a posse with him to back him up, or help had merely been throwing his weight around himself. Weight and brute strength could be very dangerous, yes... but only if their aim was true. Instead, Kael was currently trying to avoid attacks that were too swift for him to dodge and throwing out attacks too slow to actually hit. The result ended with Kael tiring quickly as he exerted all of his energy into useless things. Vladimir, on the otherhand made good use of all of the things in his favor - his energy, his training, his dexterity. What he lacked in strength due to his size, he made up for in these other categories, doing the most amount of damage by being very particular in his aim.
So far, it was working.
Vladimir had felt the ringing 'pop' in his jowls as he had dislocated Kael's patella and torn through collateral ligaments, leaving the joint unstable. He had heard the air 'snap' as Kael's powerful jaws had snapped onto nothing but air, where Vlad's body had been only a moment before. He had tasted blood and felt the 'shredding' of Kael's back muscles. It had all gone according to plan, that is until pain coursed through him. It was nothing in comparison to the change that he had undergone only minutes ago. In comparison this pain was weak, but it was throbbing. Vladimir opened his eyes and found himself on the ground, his head spinning from Kael having thrown him off. A stinging acute pain jolted him back to his feet, but he made the most of it - Kael had whipped around after throwing off Vladimir in order to attack, and it had worked - Vladimir's back now had long gauges in it from his teeth, and though it would not be a fatal wound, it would need to be cleaned regularly to ward off infection. What Kael had not thought about, however, was the position that this now put the pair of them in:
Imagine this if you would: Kael now stands above Vladimir, his nape extended to reach Vladimir's back, and Vladimir beneath him, his electrifying pools honing in on one single thing - the currently exposed, the delicate, the vulnerable, the throbbing jugular vein that stood out like a homing beacon. Gritting his teeth, he brace for the pain that would come from Kael's teeth ripping more of his flesh when he lunged, and then he went for it. It was as if time stood still. He could feel every millimeter of skin that tore as pressures fought between Kael's teeth and Vlad's skin, and his skin losing as it could only stretch so far before ripping further. He opened his jaw and felt the fur tickling the inside of his maw. Next came the density of the skin, and Vladimir pushed hard and further against Kael, knowing that if he clamped down too soon, the extra skin and tissue would work against him by protecting the structures underneath. No, he waited until he felt the taut muscles of Kael's nape before clamping down firmly, and for a second, he felt the pulsating vessel. Its waves ran against his tongue and it stayed there for what seemed like eternity... that is until all pressure in the system there was decimated.
The blood that had poured into his mouth as he had torn into Kael's own back was nothing compared to what happened now. His lids widened and for a moment he thought he would drown, for there was an impossible amount of blood.Thoughts raced through his head, and he wondered why this was different, how it could be different from dealing the death blow on prey as he had done so many times before. But he knew - it was partially his change. His senses had all increased in acuity... but it was also that this was one of the unspoken rules of the Putnar - predators do not feed on other predators. The foulest of the Putnar did, the scavengers who fed on corpses too long dead, devouring the decaying flesh of the fallen ones. Vladimir closed his eyes and held on with a death grip nonetheless, trying to swallow as little of the blood as possible and bracing for whatever attacks Kael may throw at him in his death throes. Teeth gnashed at his back and Kael scrambled to get away, but Vladimir was a deadweight hanging off of him, and the end came quickly as Kael bled out. It took a few minutes for Vladimir to release the freshly dead Prince from a different land. He had thought ill of his uncle for so long for the murder he had committed, but now Vladimir unstop the weight and gravity of it. What Aindreas had done... and now Vladimir too, had been done out of defense for the ones that they each loved respectively. It was a last choice option, but sometimes a necessary one.
Slowly, jaws unhinged and released Kael's throat. The blood flow had staunched, but not from clotting - it was merely because there was no more blood to flow out. Slowly, Vladimir moved away from him and turned to face Seraphina. Electric blue pools laid upon her and he smiled slightly before realizing how morose he likely looked, and his smile turned quickly into a frown. "I... I'm sorry. Are you okay?"
