I am Diesel.
He could sense how onfused and overwhelmed she was and it was only stressing him out more. He wanted to take all this away from her and let her live in peace. He wanted her to be happy. But he never wanted to leave her now that he had found her. What if he never found another like her?
"HAVEN'T YOU EVER HEARD THE SAYING, PLENTY OF FISH IN THE SEA? ONE IN MILLIONS, AMIGO. ONE IN MILLIONS."
Bandit even emphasized the word "millions" the second time, his eyes widening as if to show Diesel the scope of what he was saying. But the fact was that none of them would make him feel this way. None of them could cause they weren't HER. He looked at her when she said that she wasn't going to rip his throat out and he offered her a smile as if in gratitude. See? At least she wasn't going to attack. That had to be a good thing, right?
"BUT SHE'S CERTAINLY NOT SWEPT OFF HER FEET EITHER, ROMEO. YOU MIGHT BE FRIEND ZONED. SUCKS FOR YOU."
Bandit snickered. When Kyra spoke up about her being his soul mate, Aster only looked confused again and asked what he was talking about. He gave her a sheepish smirk, not really wanting to talk about that cause it seemed like she was in denial about the whole thing. After all, she hadn't moved toward him, only away, and he knew she must feel the same urgency to touch as he did. It was all he could do to fight it. Kyra gave an impatient sigh.
"YOU'RE HIS SOUL MATE. THERE, I SAID IT AGAIN. YOU HAPPY NOW, LADY?"
She even rolled her eyes. At least when he asked her not to go, she told him okay and she actually sounded a little calmer now, like maybe she wouldn't bolt right away. But then she was growling again and saying that she wasn't but Diesel was confused, his brows furrowed.
"NOT WHAT?"
He had to know. He wanted to know everything she said and thought and what she felt and just everything he could know about her. When she took a step back, he whimpered as if it physically hurt him. Why was he so affected by this imprint? Was this what it was like for everyone? Then he felt the emotion of fear running through him and he looked up with wide eyes, meeting her gaze. It was HER fear. And it gave him the strength to fight Bandit's influence off. Oh no, you don't!
"YOU WON'T TOUCH HER."
He growled at Bandit. Bandit just laughed as he backed off.
"ALL IN GOOD TIME, MY FRIEND."
He heard her voice telling him to keep calm and it did help soothe him. His eyes closed a little and his breathing slowed as he focused on her voice and her breathing. She still felt a little scared in his mind though and he didn't like that. He frowned at her.
"PLEASE, DON'T BE SCARED. I WON'T HURT YOU. I WOULD NEVER HURT YOU."
He meant every word. Mags sighed again.
"SO R-ROMANTIC."
He didn't hear her mutter something about things being normal but he did hear her start asking him who he was talking to and his ears flicked back in dismay. Here it was, someone calling out the elephant in the room, asking him to explain his "affliction" or whatever the hell you would call this. Bandit snickered again.
"UH-OH, GUESS YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO COME CLEAN, AMIGO. MAKE IT GOOD!"
Kyra sighed impatiently.
"JUST TELL HER THE TRUTH. SHE'LL UNDERSTAND."
She completely believed that in her romantic head of hers, too. Mags nodded her head, encouraging him. Finally Diesel took a small step toward her and then paused again, taking a deep breath.
"I..I'M NOT ALONE. I'M NEVER ALONE. I AM DIESEL BUT THERE ARE OTHERS. THE OTHER VOICES....THEY ARE A PART OF ME."
He never really knew how to explain it. None of them did. It was just how it always was, as far back as they could remember. Not even Orb could explain it. In fact, he was the worst at it, besides maybe Mags.
