Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

israfel

It was when Sleekwing moved that Israfel became distinctly aware of how similar they might actually appear - he had apparently forgotten just how strong and graceful his father could appear, all too used to the image of him in his mind that recalled him relaxing in the sun. See, Israfel liked to think that was what his father got to enjoy these days and so, it was much easier to recall those particular images. But now, he almost breathed a sigh of relief at the fact that his father hadn't let himself get too tired in his retirement. He held the sigh back though, replaced with that up-to-no-good grin instead.

So he circled, paraded and eventually stilled, his chest puffed and legs stretched to their full height - a proud thing as he stood before his father, showing off it seemed though secretly he had always just dreamed of being taller than him. He had, of course, grown taller but alas, his father still held a particular strength in his build that Israfel could never hope to achieve. It made him huff for a moment but his genetics' failures were quickly replaced with the sheer happiness he felt at being able to bother his father once again. It was a fact, after all - Israfel was quite the bother at times.

"Retirement suits you, I think - you seem...glossier," he nodded in affirmation before he took his place at his father's side, motioning forward subtly towards where the river spread across the plains - to show him around, of course, though he doubted any part of Moladion was a mystery to his father. "Well, I followed some gypsies for a while but I lost track of them some time ago. So I've been out here, checking on the packs from time to time. I met a girl - oh, y'know, no big deal or anything, okay? - but I like to make sure it's safe out here so she doesn't have to...worry.
Or something." He flashed a grin, guilty and sheepish, and tried to hush up that particular mention with a sudden gasp as he looked over his shoulder. "Ah, it was nothing!" Phew!

"How is Spirane? I don't suppose you're considering coming and joining me down here where it's nice and warm?" He winked, forever with jest in his voice it seemed, as he plodded along, dancing along the path with repressed energy. Usually he'd be bouncing and running but for now, he would be peaceful for his father, content to meader about while he could.
