The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Before meeting Mithos, the thought of someone bound to her for life was a strange thought. After meeting him, it was still a strange thought. Ana had been low on the totem pole for some time, only for her to be treated better due to her skills as a healer. But, she was still seen as less than. It was hard for the patchwork black and white female to get past that. Moladin, however, seemed to be the place to do it. Taking on a student had done wonders for her. Moonstone had been an excellent student in the significant time they had spent together over the last year. It gave her someone to pass her knowledge to, and it helped build her stores here in the Grotto. Granted, she hadn't had much need for them, but it was better safe the sorry. From what she could tell, the packs were established. That meant, at least to Ana, she was better off out in the free lands where one did not have ready access to healers or even those in training.

And so, she had made the decision to stay out here. Of course, if a pack needed her assistance, Ana was more than glad to give it. So, the three-legged female continued along her path. A healer for all, not just a choice few. That in and of itself made her smile. She padded along with her offset gait towards the familiar tunnels and caves she called home. The wind cut through Ana's fur, sending a shiver down her spine. It was a bit colder than she might have expected for fall, but she would make due. Her supplies were good, so she was inclined to be comfortable in her abilities through the coming winter.

The dual colored lady nosed around the dying ferns outside her own entry place. Moonstone's scent still lingered even after her hasty goodbye. Ana did not fault the girl for wanting to tend to her pack and family. The yellow eyed wolfess would have done the same in her position. Plus, she had a place there, and Ana would never keep her from it. To do so was selfish. In fact, she smiled and urged the girl on. It was the right thing. The female spied a good sprig in one of the ferns and plucked it away, just dry enough to be of use without damaging the whole plant. She tucked it away into her satchel and continued along her way. Her thoughts drifted to Mithos. Even though he was not close, she could almost feel his presence. He clearly wasn't here, but she knew that he was about somewhere. Sometimes he closer than others, and certainly he knew the same of her. It strangely brought a smile to her maw. It was genuine, what he was to her, not someone trying to take advantage of her or trick her into doing something. And that, that was something worthwhile.

She knew she'd find him again eventually. Until then, she simply weaved her way through her familiar trail to the little enclave she kept her supplies. "It may be chilly, but it will be a good winder," Ana said with a smile, sliding her pouch over her head and letting it plop to the ground as she prepared to put away the last few supplies she gathered and to stock her traveling pack accordingly for what could happen this season.
