Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

JACKSON

Perhaps it was fate or luck that brought the two would-be brothers of a kind back together on this night, if Jax happened to believe in such things which he did not. In his experience you made your own luck in the world. He nodded tersely, his lips a thin hard line as Ame explained what had been going on with these night ‘beasts’. Had it been anyone else calling these terrors which were lurking in the night beasts he would have assumed they were exaggerating, but he knew Ame better. The pair has spent much time together and he knew the smaller wolf to be rather literal in most things and if he was calling them beasts and thought they were worth hunting it was definitely something out of the ordinary. The pale boy didn’t have time to respond, his cold eyes still scanning the fields before them as the dry grasses waved deceptively in the moonlight when the unearthly yowl shattered the night’s stillness.

His dark ears plaster back immediately, lips curling upwards into a snarl as he watches the tawny creature launch at Ame. It is large for a cougar, larger than he has seen before and this must be what his brother in arms meant by a Night Beast. It was a fitting name he realized now, but there was no time to dwell upon the fact. He was already moving when her heard Ame yelp though he wasn’t sure how much damage the Beast had managed to do to him, not enough to keep the smaller wolf for lunging at her back legs. She seemed fixated on the gray and tan wolf and he hoped it would give him ample opportunity to strike himself.

Before he can lunge however another figure appeared out of the snowscape like a ghost. The white she-wolf was silent as she dove for the cougar’s throat. A gusty move that Jax could appreciate were it not for the direness of the situation, instead a snarl leapt from his larynx that yet another was in danger because of this beast. In a flash he was moving toward them, compared to the other two wolves here he is a freight train and has every intention of using his size and weight to the fullest advantage. Lowering his head and shoulder he aims to ram into the side of the cougar, coming from the side opposite Ame he hoped the smaller wolf still held its focus and it wouldn’t even see him before it was too late.

If all went to plan he would knock the feline off its paws at least momentarily, though it made the razors that tipped those paws none less dangerous if she did go down he would dive for her soft underbelly with jaws wide and teeth bared ready to rip and tear whatever they could find purchase on.

we do not die easy,
we just die bloody.
