WHEN IS HIGH EVER HIGH ENOUGH?

The sun was high and the sky clear. Foliage rustled as a pair of horses made their way across the border that split the paradise from the ridge. The mare with the white rump flicked her tail nervously, huffing in hushed tones to her pale companion, ”"I still don’t think this is a good idea". The pale mare glanced at her sidelong, yet kept her attention straight ahead, "Don't be so stupid" she chided,"If I intend to lead a herd, I need to know my neighbours; good or bad.". That wasn’t the only reason for her visit, but at least it would appease Wolpertinger’s noisy mind for now.

Wolpertinger snorted, and mumbled mostly to herself, "It's the bad I'm worried about." And that wasn’t about the neighbours. Keyik wasn't particularly tactful or observant in social situations. She supposed that was her own fault for not teaching the brat out of the child when they had first arrived on the islands. Thinking about their current situation, she trailed behind a few steps, "and why do you even need to lead a herd? We'd blend in more if we joined an already established one."

Keyik sighed, her pale tail cracking against the other mare’s barrel as they walked, "Because I'm not just another mare in a herd. I'm better than that." Honestly, you’d think they hadn’t already had this conversation, "Anyway, wasn't it you who told me it was just a bunch of aşağı tabakadan hanging around here? You are being too cautious. How long have we been on these islands and still not run into a single scout? There's not suddenly going to be a herd of them living next door when we've only just arrived." If Wolpertinger had such a problem with her meeting the neighbours, she could have stayed behind in paradise. "Honestly, and you tell me you're the smart one!"

The pair halted when they reached a suitable clearing not too far from their borders, ”I’ve trusted you to get us this far, now trust me to get us the rest of the way.” the perlino assured her companion and then, with a knowing smirk, sent a resounding whinny out to the leader of the ridge.
