The weight of the past few months began to settle back upon his shoulders, the last of the adrenaline now gone. He found himself panting slightly and falling in and out of his nightmarish trance as Huntress spoke. It was something Maverick found he could not help, but tried his best to give the femme his full attention. The wolf was conflicted about the words coming from her maw. On one hand, it would be a relief to not have to sleep alone with his thoughts and the thought of having his mind taken off things for a while seemed beyond perfect. On the other, he knew what his nights are like and whatever normal and smooth facade he had been able to construct would certainly come crumbling down if he were to stay with them. However, he knew that the offer was beyond kind, not to mention he was just a stranger she stumbled upon in the woods. To refuse would be shameful and rude. Mav was a lot of things, but he was not rude.

"I, well, that is a mighty kind offer," he bowed his head momentarily in thanks. "One I would be a fool to refuse." He smiled up at the two of them. It crossed his mind how lucky he was to have found a pair so kind such as the duo before him. "I won't stay long, I can assure you. Although, while I'm not quite familiar with this land's territories, I'd imagine it may take a while for me to travel anywhere," he glanced at his hind legs and cringed. "Given my current state, that is." Maverick offered a shy smile, and his heart ached. He was now just as pitiful, helpless, and sad as he had been feeling. Just a cherry on top of the whole situation. His eyes shifted down at the thought and he was suddenly very interested in the dirt beneath his paw. Hopefully he would make it through the next few nights. /A week. You get to stay a week tops./ He lifted his gave back to Huntress, a weak smile upon his face, a sad attempt to be positive. But he was trying. /And who knows,/ he thought. /Maybe a bit of positivity is all I need./
