aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Some are born great
Some achieve greatness

Vladimir felt fear before he had said those three little words. Even as they fell from his lips, it was as if their entire history swept before his eyes:

The first time he had seen her, when she and her sister Dante had arrived on the border of Aurora Borealis, Dante seeking safe haven for Seraphina for she was about to attempt to claim a pack said to be overrun by bears, and wanted Seraphina far from danger. How sure he had been that they had been spies set upon bringing destruction and shame to Aurora Borealis, despite the fact that they had been only openly honest about both their arrival and their desires. He had been reprimanded fiercely and had decided pointedly to hate Sera forever.

The first time they had played together, when his parents had demanded that they include her in their games, when he had be incredulous that she had heard none of the stories of angels or gods, none of their lore. When they had been choosing which angel to be and she had wanted to be only herself and the brief thought had entered Vlad's head that she was in fact an angel before his young mind had reminded itself that she was full of cooties.

The first time they had found the caves down by the lake, and how concerned he had been for her safety and they had intertwined their tails together and vowed to always be friends, and he had promised to always protect her.

The first time they had truly been alone together, which had seen them return to those very caverns, to see the sunrise, and feel such emotions flood through both of them as to frighten them terribly. But then the perfection of the moment had been unexpectedly shortened by the appearance of both her parents and her betrothed, and how both hurt and anger and shame had quickly replaced the feelings that had be prevalent only a moment before.

Most wolves only truly appreciated the things they had once they lost them... but the same could not be said of Vladimir. For the first time that he had known that he loved Seraphina was after they had emerged from those caverns together. There upon the peak he had known it was her and that he would love her for all eternity. True, he was young, but he came from a long line of wolves that never half-assed their feelings and always gave their all. But it was different now, so much different. It was not just a young varg's fancy that held them together and solidified his feelings for her. No, now it was something stronger, something that could not be broken. Magic had erupted in the world and now flowed through his veins, and had taken his love for her and twisted and churned it into something different, something more. He could feel his love for her pulse in every inch of his being. He could feel her now, despite not touching her, as if she was an extension of his soul.

And then she neared him, and returned the words that he had spoken. How could he ever had known that three simple words, so plain and in extraordinary on their own could mean so much and elicit such emotions within him when they were strung together? Still closer she moved before pausing and decidedly remarking upon the fact that he needed to bathe. Vladimir's response was immediately, a deep fugal that rumbled from his chest and although it made his head ring in discomfort and his limbs tremble once again, he did not stop even as she pressed her nares against his flesh, urging him back from where he had come - the lake. But somewhere along the way she paused and peered at him, and he could feel her heart quivering in trepidation and his made his hairs ruffle, the spines of his dorsum rising to half-mast. How did he know? He just... did. Vladimir scrunched his brows together and frowned, glancing down for a moment. "I don't know how to explain it, Sera. I can feel you in my very bones - where you are, your emotions. I suppose it is something akin to the way baby birds imprint upon their mothers..." Immediately he shook his head and jerked it upward, blushing in embarrassment. "Not that what we have is the relationship between a babe and its parent. Or that we are Lera. I just mean... It just is. There is no one else for me. You have ruined me for all others, and my heart and soul are yours. Even if I wished to change it - which I don't - there is nothing I could do." Slowly, he began to walk a few steps before turning and looking backwards to see if she was following him.
