When the stand-in alpha’s gaze snapped to him, Tychon’s glare steeled into challenge. He held breath in, preparing for a retort to whatever Kalseru was going to spit at him… But then her gaze’s will fizzled out to a dim burn. He snorted in both in disappointment and in triumphant; it was clear she had bite to offer, but he was obviously correct in assuming her opportunistic ensnarement of leadership. Why else could she put forth no counter point?

Then her precious speech began. Tychon's remaining right lip twitched in irritation at the mention of the failed hunt. Failed because the numbskulls let Daenerys nearly get trampled to death. The news that the former Queen would recover helped his anger some. The tightness in his chest relaxed some, anyways. Thank non-corporeal forces that the hunters’ mistakes hadn’t cost Spirane their actual leader. He was disappointed that Daenerys had elected to step down; he would have gladly ripped his teeth into Kalseru’s throat for using diplomatic coercion to gain promotion. However, he was mature enough to understand the decision. With near death injuries, Daenerys would have to focus all of her energy on healing and would be unable to thwart challengers should one arise.

That meant his job scouting the borders was all the more important now. Keeping out the scoundrels who would take advantage of the situation would be paramount. It also seemed, by studying the compliant faces of his pack mates, it would be up to him to make sure the Bewilderbeast wasn’t a pushover; her speech was not the one he wanted to hear. It left his face tense with displeasure. He couldn’t really say why except that he was unconvinced that she was the correct pick or the only one of them able to step up to the task. After all, any wolf here would do anything they could to make sure “[Spirane’s] way of life” (Kalseru) was preserved. As far as he was aware, she only had Daenerys’ blessings and Nymeria’s so-called trauma induced negligence to hold behind her.

Tychon recoiled at her genuine smile. When her sweeping gaze reached him, he stood up, head high and tail curled over his back. He padded toward her high and mighty rock, trying to ignore the uncomfortable feeling of knowing his mutilated face was in full light. He rasped in slow dying words, “I challenge you for your position.” He wasn’t going to follow a “in power because of others” sort of leader. That simply wouldn’t keep those that needed to be kept in check, in check.

OOC: BTW, I have no intention of winning this fight XD, so there would be no need for an official battle-judge; just a “friendly” IC scuffle. =)
