FIRE BURNS WHERE IT FALLS

Maslakhat needed to stretch his legs. He was never the sort of stallion who was content with staying in one place. All his life he had wandered the sands of deserts large and small, observing the patterns of the wind and the tendencies of others. They were both equally fascinating in their own rights. He had spent too much time alone lately as well, and in spite of never finding his bastard half-brother, he returned to the islands anyway. Keyik and her ambitions proved to be an interesting enough challenge for him at the moment, but Maslakhat always wanted more. He was always hungry.

Today he decided he would peruse the falls, and he is glad that he did. A golden glint caught his eye and he sees her. Another of his kind—shining brightly under the autumn sun at the base the great waterfall. How rare, he thought as he moved closer, inspecting the great amounts of white that tipped her legs and underbelly. Such markings were often referred to as a bad omen, but nothing about the golden girl looked remotely ominous. He watched as she craned her head up to the top of the falls and he decided he would see he would push his luck.

“You aren’t thinking of climbing that, are you cesur kız?” He questioned with a hint of playful dangerousness in his voice.
