KORAY
Koray relished Oswin's astonishment. He relished everything from the wild, desperate look in her eyes to the shrill edge to her voice. But she was not done. She was not giving up. Koray's self-satisfied smile melted away when she accused him of abusing Vita, and when she boldly announced that she was not going to leave until Vita Nova was hers for the taking, he began to bristle with rage again. His lip curled to show his clenched teeth, and he tensed, sucking in a huge breath to prepare himself, but before he could make the move Vita Nova's quiet voice broke the silence.
His expression fell, and his head whipped around to stare at her. He considered her, standing there with the moonlight at her back, looking broken and pathetic with tears streaming down her face. A knot of feelings that he could not comprehend swarmed in his chest. It is was true - if Vita Nova carried his child - then it changed everything. He stood a step toward her, hesitated, then looked back at Oswin. He did not smile, but there was victory gleaming in his eyes. "You're upsetting her. I won't say it again: leave before I do something I regret. And never come back. You have no business being here."
