there is no greater pain
or punishment than memory

It was a dare. He had been dared to go and look around in Thoth's labratory. There was no other reason to really go in there, but he wanted to, and therefore he had done his best to get into it to look around. Get an idea what was in here to be able to prove that he had indeed done it. He had come in as mist form, because it was a quick in and out thing, and Quinn didn't even need to touch anything in here. He just wanted to look around, see what was there, complete the dare. A harmless thing, so he did not want to make trouble by doing it. Or maybe deep down any trouble would work for him, considering how he had been feeling recently. Like things were going to lead up to something but hadn't yet.

Distractions were how he managed. How he dealt with everything feeling balanced on a tight-rope where it might flip one way or the other in a moment's notice. This was it, happiness was fleeting. There was no saving it, just seeing how far it would stretch until it snapped. He kept looking through the labratory, wondering if there were potions to help him not feel like he did right now. Probably not. Knowing his luck, he'd get hit with something that turned him into a frog or something. Then he'd get stepped on or eaten. That was the kind of luck that Quinn seemed to have in those types of situations. At least he had much better luck in battle or on a job. That made things easier to deal with.

Inventions lay about the place as well, and some looked half done or part done, though mostly Quinn's curiousity was for the potions and what some of them could do. He had never been in this place before, and very rarely saw anything like this elsewhere, either. But he had won the dare, done what they had said he wouldn't -- how could he resist a good dare like this? -- and now it was time to go back out in mist form so as not to bring forth any unwanted attention, and then go find those that had dared him to go in the labratory in the first place. At least he had gotten some ideas on what kinds of potions might linger about, so it wasn't really that bad of a waste of time on a dare alone.
