daughter of the stars

While she is not entirely oblivious to the way he was watching her she was perhaps not as aware of its meaning. His eyes were trained on her the way hers were often trained on the stars, as if trying to pry into their depths and learn what secrets they could whisper. It is a flattering thin, a distracting thing, and for once she finds her attention torn between the heavens above and the sun-washed boy beside her. Her tail flicked reflexively, swishing softly in the night as it flicked against her hindquarters until he answered her. She smiled softly, intrigued by his straight forward answer. “The stars often make me forget wheat I am doing.” Her reply is soft but true, perhaps missing a bit of what he had been insinuating. She wondered if he knew what role Fate played in what they did and didn’t do. It was her comfort, knowing that no matter where she wandered or what she did it was predestined and all was as it should be

Many railed against Fate, tried their damndest to avoid it and yet in doing so still wound up exactly where they were meant to be. Studying Zevulon’s sharp features she wondered what he believed, but she wasn’t quite ready to try and pry so far. Her delicate head cocked slightly at his question, thinking it over for a moment before replying. “I can’t say that I have. The Mother Moon shines so bright she often silences all her children from shining above, but I am sure the new fallen snow must glitter like galaxies in her light.” Her words came a bit faster as she spoke, her interest and excitement at the idea a bit evident as her bright eyes focused on his almost glowing in the soft light.

She had not strayed too far from the mainland yet, having seen the islands in the distance and yet as a newcomer not truly understand what they were or how different they could be. “Is there such a place?” she questioned, stepping toward him slightly in her eagerness with her tall ears pricked forward. Surely he wouldn’t have mentioned such a thing if it did not exist and she thought this was why the stars had called her out tonight, to meet him, to open up the doors to so many more possibilities. One fork in the path always lead to another and another and she so enjoyed seeing where they would take her.
