Good Neighbor House Softball Tournament
Good evening to all of you. My name is Eric Howard and I attend The Gathering on Yankee Street. As part of our give-back mission we are going to be putting together the 2nd Annual Good Neighbor House Softball Tournament. While Battle of the Churches seems pretty intense, I promise you that it is not. We are just looking to have some friendly fellowship and competition with our neighboring churches and, in the process, help serve an organization that does so much for the citizens of Dayton, Ohio.
Here is how it is going to work. On August 12th at Delco Park we plan to hold two separate tournaments simultaneously. We will have a CO-ED softball tournament as well as a Men's softball tournament. It is planned that they will be double elimination tournaments so every team will have, at least, the opportunity to play in two games. Each tournament will consist of 8 teams. The first churches to respond will get the 8 slots for each tournament. Each church is allowed to have 1 team in each tournament if you like, or if you can only fill one that is great as well.
There is absolutely zero funding that is required to participate. What we would like is canned goods donations for the Good Neighbor House. The best case scenario is that you ask your entire church family to bring in canned goods for this event. We understand that you have your own missions as well and may not want to put it out to all of the church, but maybe it could be a Youth Ministry task. We collected 1200 cans of food last year and would like to double that amount this year. We will take whatever you are willing to collect.
