I think that this idea should be followed up on. After all, the firefighters are sometimes putting their personal safety on the line in doing their volunteer jobs. The town's lawyer is only asked to be involved in work at a town hall meeting - a safe situation. Is the lawyer a resident of the community? If so, he/she should certainly consider this as his/her contribution to the community. If not, maybe there is a lawyer in the community that would be suitable to handle the work and would be willing to volunteer his/her time at these meetings.
