This was unbelievable. His mother was acting so... so immature, so childish, in the face of such an adult subject! It was horrific! Xerxes could hardly believe the howling laughter was coming from his mother, who was usually so collected, so put-together and feminine. His nose wrinkled as she put her paw over his, teal-blue eyes staring down at her with a mixture of disgust and disbelief. "It's- It's not FUNNY!" He ripped his paw out from underneath his mother's, placing it over his heart like a concerned parent. Maybe she was... sick? Father had told him that certain illnesses could cause mental... distress. It certainly wasn't a very normal reaction to what he had said, not at all. He felt as though something here was terribly wrong.
Xerxes was about to ask his mother if she'd like him to fetch his father, or bring her back to the den so she could rest, until a terrifying thought crossed his mind. He rose slowly to his feet, even at his age cutting a rather imposing figure. "Mother..." He began, swallowing hard past the lump in his throat. His temperature was rising like a lizard sunning itself on a dark rock, and his heart seemed to palpitate in the strangest of ways. "How... how could you let me sleep next to TIKAL?!" His words came suddenly, and rather loudly, as he danced on his paws with a very anxious look upon his face.
"SHE'S BEEN LOOKING FATTER LATELY!!" He burst out suddenly, the fur around his face and along his back bristling with shock and aversion. "MOTHER!!"
