Good Morning Joe,
I am writing to say a big thank you for the Huge Welcome and Presentation of the Award. I shall cherish it and hang it on my wall with Pride.
Having reached this stage of my life and with all the words of praise on me which, I hope I am worthy of.
The warm handshakes from members and their good wishes and from the ladies as well.
A great evening Joe well presented. Good food and good entertainment, who could ask for more.
My late Wife and I had always taken a keen interest but the rest of my Family had not been able to enjoy due to work demands, etc. But they really enjoyed the occasion and left with happy memories.
On Sunday, my Son David and I attended, my Grandson Dale was disappointed that he could not be there but he lives in Newton Le Willows and had other commitments to attend to.
So Joe, Thank you for all you have done for me and my thanks to the members of Bury Branch for their kind words. Not forgetting Dennis who does so much.
There is one thing I would like to add. I watched the commemorations from Tyne Cot Cemetery, a place I have visited many times. By comparison with those MEN who did so much, were so hardy in such appalling conditions, I feel that our War, bad as it was, was a picnic.
But it was total war where everyone, particularly the women, worked so hard on the home front to further the war effort and keep us supplied with the armaments we needed
We will never have another generation to equal them.
Best Wishes Joe,
Norman
