there is no greater pain
or punishment than memory

He stood there as if surveying the area rather than pausing to talk to someone, since crouching would only be suspicious. Suspicious enough, perhaps, to point out that he was up to no good. The kind of no good that may lead one to think he was helping a small child hide from a babysitter or something like that. Quinn wasn't sure how that would even look to get caught in it, but he would simply say he was asking if she was the Angela they were looking for before bothering anyone about her being there. Because if bot Angela, then she could very well be allowed to run around hiding in the rose bushes. He didn't know how others managed their children, and it was simply none of his business anyway. Of course his mission was much worse than keeping a child's whereabouts to himself and holding a conversation with her, anyway. His job was to kidnap someone, which was probably going to get him in a world of trouble. But it could be worth it to him.

She was eyeing him now, this child was. He didn't blame her for that, because it probably wasn't every day that a stranger came along and started asking about your name and all. As for her name and how it was pronounced, he had mearly spoken it in the way one of those on the way to the castle had done, since that was how he had learned of her name, of all the information he had asked for and acquired. Of course people liked to talk, and therefore he had gotten quite an ear full of names and so forth. It had sounded like Mallos had gotten around, though honestly Quinn probably couldn't say much on that. In all fairness, most of his own offspring had not been his idea nor should have been even possible. Those he had wanted were on a short list, and twinning had been far too common in those instances. Then again the number of wanted or even the number of those he had coupled with was a small number compared to all the years within his life.

What Quinn wasn't expection in all of the variables that ran through his mind, however, was the name that came out of this child's mouth. Morgana. Wasn't that like the fifth or sixth daughter up from Angela? Wasn't that what the man said on the way down here? And if Morgana was four, then Angela, the youngest, must be flipping tiny. What did that guy on the mountain peaks expect him to do? Take some child out of her literal cradle? Because that was a world of not going to happen. That was a line he had to draw. He couldn't take care of an actual infant, no. That was far too much to do on his own under the circumstances. When it wasn't even his kid, when the reminder of terrible things would only haunt him if he did such a thing. No, that was too far for Quinn to go. Alas, there was that one possiblity that this child was making it up to get out of being caught. Which was an easier thing to deal with, to a point.

Still, he might as well get to the bottom of this. There was a way that might, just might get to the truth of the matter. Quinn glanced at the child for a moment. "Oh? That's too bad. I was going to let Angela borrow my illusion pendant to sneak away from everyone looking for her. Everyone needs a little freedom, you know? But if you aren't her, I better go look in another place. No knowing when all the huffy people will find her." He responded evenly, taking a step away from the rosebush slowly, giving her time to say something. If she didn't, well, he would have to go and get more information elsewhere on who he was looking for. But if she had been telling the truth, then there was no way Quinn was snatching an infant away from it's parents for this quest. That was going too far, considering all things.
