His children were growing, Fenyang and Tikal growing into themselves elsewhere while Xerxes remained here in Asteraia- and for that, he was glad, as it seemed like his firstborn took after him more than his other two children. They all held equal place in his heart, and he ached in their absence, but Xerxes seemed to be a bit more of a special case who required a bit more attention than usual. It was wintertime, now, and though the air was cold the pack seemed to flourish regardless, with full bellies and full spirits despite the sickness of his brother. Viserys had tended to him the best he could, but there were some things that only time would heal- Halcyon, however, seemed to be getting stronger by the day, and for this he was pleased. The male was not sure how he felt about Aster, his mate and now Queen, with the recent addition of Glorall as an enemy... his heart sung for Haziel who resided there and he could only hope this feud would not someday see them at each other's throats.
Viserys doubted that this coming spring would be quite as busy for him, but regardless he had made it a point to stock up his supply of birthing herbs. It was today that he looked for what hadn't been buried and killed yet underneath the snow, the earth's last hurrah before being covered in white. But there was a strange, albeit familiar, scent, that found itself wandering through his nostrils, disrupting his search in favor of something admittedly more... interesting. The scent was like an echo of childhood, of those who had flickered from existence, either dead or gone completely. But he could not conjure the name without the face, and so with as much haste as he could muster with his stiffened backside, he headed towards the borders of the pack.
It'd been eight long years since he'd seen her, when he was young and timid and his parents still ruled, when Aurai and Isolde had played at his side, when he'd helped deliver the most puppies he'd seen in a pack since. A wide grin stretched across his face as he hobbled towards her, the colder weather settling into his bones but excitement keeping them supple.
