Hi Cass
You have me a little confused. You say that those who did not wish to continue serving with the LF's in view of their imminent change to 4 RRF and the Red and White Hackle, " left " the LF's. What do you mean by that? Left the Army altogether ( buying themselves out )...not signing on for further service or applying to transfer to other regiments? When I enlisted in 1966 it was into the Fusilier Brigade. Serving in the LF's was my preferred option, as I went on to do. I still have all my enlistment paper work. Surely for those not wishing to serve in the new 4 RRF, it would not have been an acceptable reason to have their colour service terminated early just because they didn't like the idea? I'm pretty sure that like me no one signed on to serve exclusively with the LF's, it was to serve in the Fusilier Brigade. That said, how were they able to apparently ' leave ' claiming that they didn't like the idea of further Army service with the new 4 RRF? The Orbat of 1968 was compiled to show all those serving with the LF's on the date of disbandment. Any prior Orbat would simply be a long long list of all those who have served in the LF's over the years.
Have I got my wires crossed?
Geoff P
