The hessian who had been the first wolf to arrive finally spoke, and when he did she was not left in disappointment. She had recognized his breed - one she had not seen in many moons, not since back before when she was still a member of Cynbel's pack. A Russian wolf had been one of her foster parent's clients, and over the years it had fallen to Nimueh to deal more and more with the wolves that came looking for potions and magic - not that anything that they had done was actual witchcraft, that is. Still, she found herself amused by his low-timbered vocals, and graced him with a smile when he fell silent. "Well, Lev, it is indeed nice to meet you. I hope that in time you will entrust to me your tales, no matter whether they are of joy or woe. You will receive no ill judgment from me, I have seen and done more things that have previously been judged wrongly to be that petty. I accept your pledge of loyalty and promise in return that I shall judge you solely on your actions here. Now tell me, Lev, do you speak any of the common tongue? While I understand your speech, I am sure that not everyone who comes to this pack seeking safe haven will. " The next to arrive was another rare breed, but one that Nimueh knew was surprisingly common in this land - a kalak. She was young though, hardly a teenager. Nimueh questioned her motives and her reason for being here in blunt terms, and found that she was not dissapointed with her answers.
It was sad, indeed that much of the maned wolf's family was dead, although given their own twisted sense of loyalty and their easy acceptance of betrayal and murder, she was not surprised in the slightest. Though Nimueh would be slow to trust this one, she seemed different, this Shilo. The faeling kalak was outspoken against her own kind and spoke ill of the ways of her people. She was not bigoted or racist, unlike most of the kalaks that Nimueh had had reason to chance upon, and though all of her words may be subterfuge and all of her actions a ploy to lower the Queen's walls, Nimueh did not think it was so. After all of the greetings had been played out, Nimueh had taken a moment to glance over each of them.
Finally, she had spoken her own monologue, delivering it with a beautiful set of soprano vocals. She wanted to know what each of them desired, what each of them wanted from the pack so that she would be able to best serve them even as she asked them to serve her. Once again, Lev was the first to break the silence and spoke - at least to Nimueh's best estimate - a set of true wants and desires. And how intriguing and delicious and intruding those wants and desires were. He wanted a home - that one was obvious - but he also made it obvious that he desired power and a set of responsibilities, and was bold enough so as to state that he wished to rise in rank and rule alongside her. Whether that was as a Beta or as a mate was left unsaid, but it was vague enough so as to fill her head with interesting ideas. "I do thank you for your blunt honesty Lev, and can appreciate all it is that you wish to achieve. As I said to you before, I will judge you solely on your actions here in this pack. Should you prove to be loyal, helpful, and trustworthy, your rise in the ranks will come soon enough. Should I need anything, I will make sure to come to you first so that you are given opportunity to prove yourself." Her smile faded and she lowered her vocals until they were hardly a whisper, a slithering set of words spoken in a hush tone. "But beware, Lev, that your ambition does not seek to be your ruin. I admire bravery and all, and I will gladly take council and advice, but should you ever try to over throw my reign to seek it for yourself you will see a side of me you do not like." Within an instant her darkened facade brightened again and she turned both her gaze and her attention to the two younger pledges who also stood before her.
Shilo gave nearly the opposite answer compared to Lev - whereas the hessian had immediately stated his desire for rank, for power, for responsibility, Shilo was asking for peace. The faeling wanted the things in life that she had been stripped off - a pack, a family, happiness. A place to belong. She offered in exchange her loyalty, both the the pack itself and to Nimueh personally. The queen dipped her head and smiled. "Responsibility then will not be asked of you until you wish for it. I hope this place can be a safe haven for you to grow and age in, and that you come to trust me in a way you have not been able to trust your own family." And then her colorless irises swiveled to lay on the other teenager who had chosen to make this place her home. However rare and strange, it all fit together perfectly. Lev was ambitious, Shilo was reserved, and Nike was a perfect mix of the two of them, wanting both a safe home and to learn. "For you, Nike, I will find teachers to help teach you whatever it is that you want to learn. If it is something that I cannot teach you, I will make alliances with other packs so that you will not be lacking. As you age and grow, what you take on in terms of responsibility will be rewarded so that you are never overwhelmed." She smiled one last time before relaxing and casting her gaze over them. "Now, if any of you have any further questions, please feel free to ask, but elsewise, do go and explore this pack. This is all of your homes now."
