Alistair nodded at Zelda's words, his round, white eyes sparkling with curiosity. She was young, sensitive, but that did not have to be a bad thing. He was sure, at one point, she had tempered the flame that had been Hyrule, but the young ruler was coming into her own each day. He felt as though, despite all the troubles that she had endured and continued to, she had kept a softness about her. It was refreshing, to say the least, to see someone not turned cynical by the world. He gave her a tentative smile. "Whatever you think is best, Goddess." He would be at her disposal for any and all things. The position of advisor was a distant goal, a consequence of servitude- but as he grew older and a bit more mild, he was realizing he wouldn't quite mind the prestige either.
His thoughts had wandered from the matter at hand, but upon Dexter's arrival, Alistair's face settled into a neutral mask. He knew that he must deliver the information with no opinion attached- unwilling to sway Zelda's decisions. There was too much at stake, and he hadn't worked with her long enough in this capacity to know what she would want the outcome to be. Certain leaders, perhaps, would denounce Eden outright. But this was not so simple. He cleared his throat.
"I traveled to Glorall to seek out my younger sister, Samia, to see if she might know anything of the poisoning. She is... innocent, naive, too trusting and kind-hearted for this world. I ask that she not be implicated in any of this, that my source remain anonymous." He glanced between them both, seeking the silent affirmation that his sister would not be named as informant. Alistair sighed. "What I learned from her was... sickening, saddening... The perpetrator was Ehiyeh, Eden's daughter." He let the information sink in for a moment, for them both to commit the name to memory. But as always, it was not as simple as an assassination attempt, nor a rogue, psychotic agent. The circumstances were enough to make him feel a bit of sympathy for the wolf he had been hunting down for so long.
"Samia said that it was an... accident. An experiment gone wrong, that this Ehiyeh meant no harm." He dipped his head. "She is a mother, now, her children a byproduct of rape." There was a natural sadness to his words, though he attempted to provide the information objectively. Despite her crime, he felt as though Zelda might treat this with even more care, would not drag her kicking and screaming to Taviora to answer for what she had done. If she had truly done anything at all, besides having conducted her 'experiment' in the wrong place at the wrong time. "We know the method, the outcome, and now the perpetrator. But, naturally, things are not as black and white as I might have hoped."
He paused for a moment, but it was clear that he was not entirely finished. "If I may offer my advice, my opinion on the matter, just this once." Alistair cleared his throat once more. "She must have been quite young when Amoxtli was poisoned. I am inclined to believe it was, indeed, an accident. If she was a child, then her running away, could perhaps be excusable." He shifted. "But what I do not believe can be excused is Eden's covering up of it. For a wolf who calls himself friend to us, it does not seem... justified." He settled back down on his haunches, having stood up somewhere within his impassioned speech. "Those are my thoughts."
