Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

INDIGO
SOFT BREATH, BEATING HEART
AS I WHISPER IN YOUR EAR
I WANT TO FUCKING TEAR YOU APART

She liked going to the riverbanks with sister Vasily. It was better than being in the moors. Bad memories lived there, in the swamps with the alligators. Indigo thought very simply, but she was not stupid. In fact, she was much smarter than those who confused themselves with thinking everything over too many times. Words did not mean much. Her head had screamed when she had seen Other Mother's dead eyes, but instead of screaming, she could only whimper and growl. She envied those with voices. Emotion did not have to stay inside. When they arrived at the river, she had begun to sniff down low on the bank. The river was cold, and today, she could not swim. Indigo did not know what sister Amaranthe did on these days, but she had not wanted to come.

Perhaps, company breeds misery.

Her eyes looked to sister Vasily, who was sitting on the bank. She seemed to be in distress. But there was something more distracting near her paws, a strange red creature with angry claws. Indigo reached out a paw, and when the creature latched on, the yelp was involuntary. She heard the hurried steps and looked upwards- the angry words brought on an even angrier glare. How was she supposed to detach this... thing... from her paw? It was insidious, with its beady black eyes. Hatred incarnate. Indigo shook her paw, but the creature only held on tighter. Bastard.

Indigo stepped on its back with her free paw and pulled again, this time biting at the claw that held her. It seemed to not think her worth its time, letting go and scuttling off, back into the river. The girl scowled, her masked face contorting in anger. Small droplets of blood splattered into the snow. When she was stronger, she would return. And that thing would die.
