my mind's like a deadly disease

After everything you’ve done, I can thank you for how strong I’ve become

His Inlet - the place where he would build a legacy for himself, and hopefully, where he would find himself. The black and white stallion could not have told you that he was lost, simply that there was a haze, a fuzziness, to who he was meant to be. All through his childhood he had simply been taught. As an adult, he had not made many choices for himself until he returned to the islands. That was his first choice: coming home. Orkaan could not revisit the time spent away with much fondness, especially when he considered the idea that his grandmother might have still be alive if she had never left the Arch.

Choices make up life. They steer you down paths, whether good or bad. The brute’s choice to swim to the common grounds that night was proving one of his better ideas the longer he spent time in Jaci’s company. It was a rare thing, for the drat mutt to be put at ease by the presence of another, but there was something so easy and right about this interaction. The snowy mare made him laugh and smile, her innocence as refreshing as a swim in the ocean on a sweltering summer day. She did not target him, she did not attack who he was, she simply let herself be known and attempted to know him.

Auds twitch in surprise as she reveals the meaning of her name. The fates have such a sense of humor. ”Then you shall be my lovely Moon. My name means Hurricane in my native tongue.”

It was strange, not having others who could speak dutch around. Owdeht had used their mother language almost exclusively after he learned it, and while Sterkte wasn’t the biggest fan of it, she would often humor her mother. Dora had expressed interest in learning, and while the tobiano stag was eager to teach her, he had seen such disapproval in her sister’s eyes. A disapproval he couldn’t fathom or understand. For whatever reason, Phi did not seem as inclined to Orkaan as Dora. The thought of her beautiful, roan coat and sparkling eyes made his heart skip a beat but he quickly returned his full attention to Jaci and her bright eyes.

”Of course, the swim to the Inlet will be a little chilly. Each island has it’s own climate and mine is colder than most. Still, if you’ve lived on a mountain top all your life I imagine it won’t be too terrible for you as you grow used to it. I’m sure you will love the view as much as I do.” With her radiant smile she could have been an angel. A blessing perhaps since he believed he been doing things right? Protecting others and serving his legacy. The behemoth turned to lead the way, staying close to the much smaller femme and always keeping his eyes open and alert to the dangers that could so easily engulf them.
