Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

heros may die...but legends endure

Mara was quickly proving that she really was more clever than the average child. Her refined choice of words even for being so young was amazing to say the least and Zelda was truly impressed. Then again, she was an odd mixture, she knew her lineage, her mother didn’t keep it a secret from her when she first came here, and gave birth to the child right before Zelda’s eyes, but Zelda wondered if it was part of her blood, or mixture of that made her so different than the others. She hadn’t met Warpaint, the other brightly colored child, but she wondered if she was similar and was quite curious to what she was like now. Though she kept her focus on Mara Sov for now.

Healing was a no go, though Zelda wouldn’t lie Taviora did need healers she knew it was not a course that many found enjoyable. It was just Zelda following in her mother and her grandmother’s paths as well as perhaps a little bit of pressure on her grandfather’s part to keep her safe. Regardless, the choice of words Mara used in describing diplomacy was interesting, and true. It was hard, Zelda knew that more than anyone. ”I think I make it harder by trying to keep the peace with everyone.” She said with a light laugh, ”I know it’s hard, and perhaps impossible, but if I can make the lives of those around me better I have to try.” She added knowing it was in her blood but truly wishing for peace to fall back over Moladion so those that lived here would be free to do as they pleased once more.

The girls next question bid a quick reply to form upon Zelda’s lips though. That was obvious, to her at least, but she knew Mara Sov still had a lot to learn, ”Knowing the why someone is doing or has done something is more important than knowing what they are doing. If you know why they do the things they do, you can predict what they may do next, especially if you already know what they are doing now as well.” She starts, thinking particularly about Iromar in these moments, how they are hunting Arace, what they may do if they caught her. She didn’t know for sure, but she couldn’t stop them from doing anything until she got the truth from Diveen either, still she continued on, ” Knowing what they are doing in the present won’t tell you what they are going to do next if you don’t know why it is they are doing it. It isn’t a guarantee, I know, but by empathizing and understanding, I could maybe head them off before they make their next move.” She said with a smile.

Though at Mara’s apology at the end of her own words, Zelda shook her head still smiling at her, Do not apologize you are simply asking a question, but that is my answer, my belief. I don’t expect everyone to understand why I do the things I do or even understand… I give myself more trouble than anyone else in Moladion by doing this, but I still feel it is right in my heart and I don’t think I could turn a blind eye if I tried.” She was certain the girl would understand to some degree, but Zelda was the type of wolfess to display her heart for all to see. It got her hurt, over and over, but she still did it anyway, cause if she didn’t she knew she would fall to the shadows that constantly tried to grip everyone it could.

Mara’s quest though seemed like one Zelda expected after their talk. With Alistair’s promotion soon on the horizon his current rank would be open and it would do Zelda’s heart and mind a lot of good knowing someone so young, someone who would learn how she and the lands worked and molded it into themselves would do there. Though apparently the girl didn’t know Zelda as Zelda knew her, and this meeting taught Zelda all the more about her which brought even more warmth to her heart. She gave a wry smile, though she supposed with her last answers it was fairly obvious she was indeed Zelda, Guardian Deity, of the forest. ”I am indeed, Zelda, the lady of the forest as you called me. I don’t need any formalities though, Mara Sov, you can just call me Zelda.” She started her tail waving lightly behind her, ”I have known you before you even had your eyes and ears open, but you have brought much peace to my mind today in seeing how you have grown already. It’s a pleasure to truly meet you, and get to know you.”

She dipped her head to the girl a smile on her muzzle all the while as her tail waved through the leaves. ”I think it would be my honor for you to someday climb my ranks. I can tell already you will do amazing things so long as you put your mind to it.” She was still a child yet, but Zelda knew she owed her much already. Bringing her a little piece of light and hope this day, reminding her what was important. Her members, her family of Taviora. She would make sure Mara Sov got the best teachers and help she could get if it meant she reached her goals.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
