aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

'W-What? Who's still alive? Where are they?'

Aindreas shook his head even as it began to droop closer to the floor in shame. He had failed as a father and only half of his pups still lived, and one of those had fled this land. How could he explain to her all that had transpired? Part of him wanted to tell her that she wouldn't understand, that she was just a pup. But she wasn't a pup any more, was she? He could barely claim any rights to calling her his pup, considering how little time he had spent with her in the grand scheme of her own timeline. Aindreas suddenly realized how similar their relationship was to that of the relationship between Kalgalath and Aindreas. Kalgalath, like Aindreas, had abandoned his pups though he had not meant to. They had all grown up fatherless, just as Aindreas and his siblings had. Aindreas could only claim to be happy and blessed by the gods that his offspring did not seem to hold any anger or resentment toward him. Aindreas could not claim to be so benevolent when it had first come to Kalgalath. But if he wasnted to form any semblance of a bond here and now, with Pandora, he would have to be honest with her, even if it hurt. "Drizzt, Sin, and yourself are all still alive. The others fell to sickness before they had even reached their teenage years. Drizzt was with me in Spring Grounds - I left him there when I came here to Aurora Borealis to rule - I figured he would be safer there considering there was word of an assassin sent to kill Kalgalath. I did not want Drizzt in danger... but I never figured or planned on Pierce abandoning Spring Grounds. I do not know where he is now - perhaps where your mother originally brought him, I know he is friends with the new Alphess there, Motionless. As for sin, once the assassin was... 'dealt with'... Sin decided to go to our homeland with Kalgalath, Sebring, and Castiel." How had everything come to this? What had been the first thing to break, to start the demise of his role of 'father?' Aindreas had many a time wondered exactly that. Perhaps.... Perhaps Pandora would be able to spread light on exactly that.

She began to explain what happened, and Aindreas gasped as she revealed she had tried to commit suicide - Aindreas had been alone as a pup, but never once had he ever thought about or considering slaying himself. Aindreas knew then that he would have to some day find Silas and than him for taking care of and protecting Pandora at a time and in a way that he had been unable to. "My sweet, sweet daughter I am so sorry that you ever felt that way - unwanted, alone - it was nothing that I ever wished for you and nothing that I ever intended for you. Had I know that you were still alive and around I would have never left Moondown Shadows without you. And to then be abandoned by Silas after thinking that I too had abandoned you... the only thing that I can say is that I can commiserate. For whatever reason, this cycle of loss seems to run in our blood and I went through most of the same experiences as a pup myself." He moved forward to gently nuzzle her again, t assure himself that she was still there. That she had not left. That his sanity had not yet abandoned him. As he stepped back, he noticed a smile upon her facade - barely there, but there most definitely was the slight upward curl of a grin. Aindreas felt relief flood through him and returned the smile.

'I've been hiding in the darkness... for too long I suppose. As for my change; it was otherworldly.'

Aindreas shifted nervously from one paw to the other. Had she experienced the same pain that he had? Had she heard the voices, the sweet sopranos that had spoken in an alien language that he had somehow been able to understand and comprehend, telling him about who he was now. Did she feel the same as he did - that there was an anger boiling deep within him that threatened to eat him up? That he constantly had to push down? That fueled him? Aindreas did not want to pry - the experience as a whole had been terrifying for him, and he had no immediate desire to relive it or ask her to relive it.
