Reign supreme? In your dreams.

The wintry peace wouldn't be allowed to last long, it seemed. A light sleeper out of necessity, it didn't take much to rouse her from her nap. Ears perked at the sound of hooves in the snow, and as she came to, a stallion's voice purred from somewhere nearby. Mumbling something in irate drowsiness, she lifted her head to see the newcomer, a bay buck with a snippet of white adorning his brow. Already grouchy from the hunger gnawing in her belly, his suave words only served to annoy her further. "Can't be lost if you're not tryin' to go anywhere," she retorted, rising slowly to her feet and shaking the snow from her sides. She cocked a brow, studying the stallion. "Unless I'm on someone's turf without realizing it." She hadn't seen any other traces of equine around, but with the snow, she wouldn't be surprised if everyone's tracks and scents had been covered up.

As if on cue, another horse approached, this one a flaxen mare with a telltale bulge to her midsection. She addressed the stallion by name--Jaxon--but the tone in her voice was almost as cold as the snow itself. Her expression softened as she turned to address Aryel herself, introducing herself as Oswin. The stocky grulla mare remained cautious, as well as a bit annoyed. Why did everything think she was some wayward filly? "Aryel. And I ain't lost," she insisted, "Just passing through." She gestured at the stallion with a tilt of her muzzle, giving the mare a curious look. "You with him? Wasn't trying to trespass, just needed somewhere to wait the snowstorm out." The mare had mentioned a place called Vulcan Peak (evidently an interesting place to be if they had need for generals) but that couldn't be this meadow, as flat and forested as it was. So what were these two doing all the way out here?
