Will the lights come on this afternoon during the solar eclipse? Posted on August 21, 2017 at 09:49:11 AM by Jeff "Laca" Conway
The first total solar eclipse covering the entire contiguous United States in 99 years will occur this afternoon. While birds an other animals will freak out, it can to wonder - what will happen here in Tampa Bay?
Our coverage is only 81.4% I don't think it will get too dark at all if I can recall a partial eclipse from 1970 in Massachusetts. But one would wonder what it would be like to be in the 100% coverage places like Nashville where there will be 2 minutes and 41 seconds of total darkness in the afternoon.
Would our Puryear Park lights come on? No, they are on a fixed timer by the hour and not turned on and off by the lighting. Just an interesting thought. Replies: There have been no replies.
