aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Warriors are not born and they are not made,
Warriors create themselves

She gave him half a smile and made a comment about how both of them had ended up alone. Aindreas chuckled and then smiled back at her. "I guess you are right", he said. He fell silent as she start talking again, talking about Drizzt. Aindreas nodded, agreeing with her yet again. "When Drizzt was a pup, your mother left him alone in Malignant Felicity. The new Alphess there, Motionless, found out where I had taken up residence and brought him to me after your mother left. Surprisingly, Drizzt had still been comfortable in Malignant Felicity without your mother there beside him. However, he did not seem happy in Spring Grounds with me- it always seemed like something was missing for him. I do not know where your mother is, where she has gone. But I hope to find your brother soon. I have sent out one of my wolves to look for him, either to bring him home here, or just to know where he is so that I can visit him and hopefully repair the bond between us. He likely thinks that I abandoned him in Spring Grounds, when the truth is so far from that. I did not want him to be hurt by the assassin who was tracking our family. I just never expected for Pierce to abandon the pack, and thus abandon your brother as well."

Aindreas had gone on to apologize to her for making her feel unwanted, and had ended up nuzzling her again. He was not one for physical contact, and even nuzzling against his daughter gave him some physical pain. He had grown up alone, much as his own pups had, and had never learned the tactfulness of sociality. He had never known the gentle caress of a mother, or the caring touch of a lover. His pups' mother had never shown him true affection as she had never loved him, and thus all that Aindreas had to base his own affection off of was lacking. For whatever reason, his upbringing had also resulted in this- pain whenever he touched another, even when it was his own family. Perhaps it was deeply rooted from his uncertainty and his awkwardness, from his sureness that they too would one day leave him. After all, anyone he ever got close to always did.

Pandora spoke of breaking the cycle Aindreas wondered if she truly could forgive him for failing as a father. Then she smiled at him even as he pulled away from her, and though the moment was fleeting and her smile brief, it gave him hope. However, once the smile was gone she stiffened up quickly again, just as uncomfortable with the situation as he was apparently. Finally, she began to talk about her own change, her transformation. When she began to describe how exactly it had changed her, Aindreas smiled - she was able to find a beautiful thing within something that had been so painful for her. Though everything was different now, somehow it was better for her. He had to agree with her, ever since he had undergone his own transformation, everything he saw was in crisper detail, and was more vibrant in color. "I am glad that you can see it that way, and not just focus on the bad. The pain, the consequences that may befall us depending on our actions… The darkness that threatens us, and the responsibility that now lays upon our shoulders. You are remarkable, Pandora, to see the good in a world that contain so much bad. "

His little girl, or rather to be more accurate his daughter, seeing as she was no longer little, no longer a pup, changed the subject. She asked about his role now in this new pack. He had always maintained a role in the hierarchy of every path that he had been a part of - Munashii Gekko, Moondown Shadows, Spring Grounds. The same was true of this pack-once called Aurora Borealis-now called Dierne Hrof. Only here, he was the Alpha, or as Pandora put it, the King. "Yes Pandora, you are a sort of princess. You will always be my princess, no matter how old you age or where you are. I know I have not been a good father to you, but I hope to change that. Break the cycle, as you so eloquently put it. Do you want this to be your new home? I know you loved Moondown Shadows, but perhaps you can be happy here with family. I am here, and your uncle-though he is younger than you-Vladimir is here as well. Perhaps we can change the way our Family has always run, and actually be happy together for once. What do you say, Pandora? Do you want to give it a try?" She would not inherit the throne, as Aindreas was only holding the throne as the interim ruler until Vladimir came of age. Or at least that had originally been the plan. He did not know if he would be willing to give up the throne now, when it had done him so much good. Though he still lacked normal social skills, he had found a new strength within him, calling to be a leader. Having the responsibility for other safety and well-being had forced him to become a new kind of wolf.

Through trial and error, pain and suffering,
And their ability to conquer their own faults
