The sights here were my favorites. The caves along the cliff were cavernous, wide and crazy. It was closely resembling the den we had, but we were settled deeper than these. I let my mind wander the ideas that spiraled most days, wondering where we'd go, what we'd do each day. Dad was rarely here, if he was it was to sleep, or eat. But, I guess I couldn't blame him. He had a duty to the alphas, to keep the borders safe. I guess I had to deal, huh? I didn't like it, but I didn't have a choice in any matter. I wandered further and further most days, seeing how far my wandering would take me. I'd gone as far as I dared so far, but I felt like I had to go further, and one of these days, I would. I'd make sure of it.
I watched the boy who laid himself on the sunning rock, He spoke, seeing if I could make my way up there. I eyed the rock, looking at all the angles nearby. And a smile laced my lips. "
You Betcha I can get up there." I giggled.
At almost a year old, my legs were gangly and long, small frame and light weight, I would be able to make the jump up to the rock fairly easy. I think. I took a few long steps behind the rock, aiming for the flattest area. Add a running start, I let my lithe frame leap up onto the rocks, nails scratched along the limestone. I found myself nearly crashing into the boy, but I threw my weight backwards a little, balancing myself before I collided. "
See?! Told ya I could do it. I'm Maris, by the way." I looked out at the view he had from the rock, a grin splitting on my face.
"
I've grown up here, but never found myself near this rock before."
