He continued watching all the subtle and not so subtle twitchings of the wolf across from him. It was like he could stand still. His skin would spasm like he was aching to attack Dexter and his spine would arch just enough to make the fur on his back ripple. His lips would curl like he wanted to bite down on something but so far he had held his ground so Dexter figured as long as he didn't make a hostile motion, there would be no fight here today. He didn't come here for that. Finally the wolf spoke, saying there was a girl but she was gone now. Dexter's ears immediately perked up, his eyes growing bright with the new information from an unexpected source. His lips tugged into a small smirk as he nodded. "Oh okay. Thank you." He would have been content to leave it at that, though he might have asked if the male knew which direction she went in perhaps (not like he expected the unfriendly male to tell him) but before he could, the other male threw his head up and howled. Dexter pricked his ears to decipher the call and felt his own body tense a little in response. He was calling for Eden.
Not that Dexter had anything personally against the Glorall alpha. He just wasn't expecting to come across him so soon after learning the truth of his own brother, Amoxtli. He had only just found out recently that Eden's daughter had been experimenting and left a poisoned carcass out in the open where his unfortunate brother had stumbled across and decided to eat. Dexter didn't know what he was thinking to eat a downed animal anyway but it was in the past and he wasn't here so he couldn't begin to understand. He regretted not being here every day as it was. It was an accident, nothing more. But still, there were prices to pay. Eden must have known what his daughter did and yet he never moved to tell anyone in Taviora. But that wasn't something for Dexter to bring up. He was here on another mission, a peaceful mission, or so he hoped. Zelda was going to handle the other business of Amoxtli so until then, Dexter had to remain neutral toward the Glorall alpha. He forced himself to remain neutral and relaxed, giving off no signs of tension. He was sure the other wolf would pick up on even the smallest of signs.
He nodded in answer. "Okay. I look forward to hearing what he has to say." He said as a matter of politeness. Who knew? Maybe Eden would have a direction he could head in to find the girl. Maybe it wasn't such a lost cause after all. After all, if the male knew who he was talking about, then that meant she made it here alive and then went somewhere else, possibly a nearby pack. He could find her and reunite her with Zharko yet. His hopes were starting to lift again. He pricked his ears and waited patiently for Eden to appear, dipping his head in respect to the alpha the moment he saw him.
