Re(1): Richard Roberts

I never played with Richard Roberts but I knew of him well. I appeared on What's My Line but before me Guarita appeared and I know Joey was on To Tell the Truth. And if we want to get technical...an American played at Miami Jai-Alai for one season in 1951. His name was Rudy, he learned to play the game at the Brussels, Belgium fronton while serving in the military there. I suppose the main reason I was considered the 1st American is because after my 1st season in 1968-69 I was signed to an unprecedented 5 yr contract and played 10 years in Miami and 16 more seasons in many frontons after Miami. During the past 3 yrs I researched whatever happened to Rudy...it seems he settled down in Los Angeles running a very successful furniture business...by the time I made contact with his family he had just passed away at about 90 yrs of age.
