aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Only You Are the Life Among the Dead

Adrenaline was flowing swiftly through the femme’s veins, keeping the fear and panic at bay. There would be no point in being afraid when there was nothing she could do about the situation. It was better to let her fight or flight reflexes take over, and to just run. Her green orbs focused on Aindreas’ white pelt, following his steps to try and get them both out safely as fast as possible. But the ground beneath her was moving too quickly. Khalessi stumbled and tripped here and there, but the alpha was tehre to grasp her and pull her back to her paws, making sure they both made it to safety. She knew that he could have left her behind, but he was too kind to do such a thing. Luckily both of them did make it to safety and neither were hurt. She could only hope that the rest of the wolves within the pack were as lucky as them. The femme panted heavily as she tried to catch her breath, her lungs screaming for more air after running so heavily. As she looked around her to see some of the biggest changes, she was shocked to see an entirely new mountain range helping to mark the pack’s territory around the lake.

Khaleesi had no idea what could have caused such a thing to occur, and it seemed that Aindreas didn’t know either as he mumbled next to her. It didn’t seem like anything natural could have caused this, but there had to be some explanation. It had all happened right before her eyes. She tried to make some sense of it, speaking the only thing she could think of even though she knew that the words didn’t sound right as soon as she spoke them. Aindreas clearly disagreed with her trying to make any logical guess at what happened when he responded. "An earthquake? A mother fucking earthquake? Khaleesi, do you even see what has just happened? An earthquake would cause there to be holes in the earth, or maybe some mild elevation. Nothing like this! This is something more, something unnatural. Maybe this has something to do with… Oh." He seemed angry and she didn’t know why, and she flinched away from him, unsure why he reacted the way he did. What else was she supposed to say? She didn’t have any better idea, and unless he had some answers she didn’t know what to make of what happened.

The two looked away from each for a moment, Khaleesi annoyed that he had snapped at her, but when she looked back to him there was something different about him. Aindreas had always had the unique blue colored orbs that Kalgalath’s kin had, but there was an unnatural light about them now, as if they were glowing. Her own natural green orbs couldn’t seem to look away as he spoke, giving her hints at an explanation to what had really happened while she was away. "You have been gone a long time, Khaleesi. A lot has happened in that time, and this is part of it - I am a Tempest. My true being has been fully realized, as it also has been for Vladimir, Adara, and Drizzt. There is a magic, ancient and old, that apparently runs in our blood, it has only just now but a weekend. I ask you, Khaleesi, what is the name of this pack? Try to say it, try to say the name that you know. I think that she will find that a much different name falls from your lips they on the name for the lights in the night sky." The snowy white femme was confused by what he was saying, magic? Magic wasn’t real, how could he think it was? But what else could explain what just happened. She couldn’t lie to herself and pretend that she didn’t just see mountains grow out of the earth, that was not something that happened naturally. But was magic really the answer to what had happened?

Khaleesi’s gaze turned to study the rest of the land she could see. Everything looked different. And what did he mean about the pack. She had lived here her whole life, she knew the name of the pack, it was not something she could ever forget, even if she had been away for some time. Was he teasing her because she had left? Trying to play mind games to confuse her? But that wasn’t like Aindreas. He was honest, like his father. She looked back to him, confusion on her features. She would play along for now until she figured out what was really going on. ”I’ve always known the name of this pack, Aindreas. I don’t know what it is you’re getting at here…” She paused for a moment, taking in a breath before speaking again. ”Dierne Hrof.” She said the name with certainty and confidence, but her orbs widened when she heard what was actually spoken. Where had that come from? She shook her head, as if there was something wrong with her. Khaleesi turned concerned and confused eyes back to Aindreas, still not comprehending what was going on, in denial that magic could be real. ”What’s going on? Magic can’t be real….it’s never been real…” Her words trailed off as she looked back over the lands that were shouting out that magic was real, what other explanation could there be for what happened…
