Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

She had rarely taken it upon herself to leave Asteraia's plains - after all, she had little reason to. But now, something in her blood had begun to stir with the need to do so - it was an unusual feeling, a prickling deep within her very core that could not scratched by any other means than to feel new earth beneath her paws. She revelled where she could; she slid her body across bark and stone, flexed her paws in sand and spring flowers and danced alongside spring hares with little desire to cull. Instead, she did all that she could in some desperate attempt to find relief. Yet, it did not come. It drove her out and beyond despite her growing agitation at wanting to return home.

Yet each time she turned north, she found herself south. It taunted her as she moved down the flank of the river, nose to the ground and eyes wild as she breathed in the strangeness of this new place; her brother had been here - once, twice, she did not know. She merely felt him in the strands of the grass that brushed her undersides in the darkness. But there is somebody else in the grass now. Somebody else in the air. Who?

Her eyes darted ahead of her as she paused suddenly mid-stride; her paw stayed mid-air, rigged as she breathed in slowly, deeply. A woman shared her path now - a stray woman, no true home for her fur reeked of many places. It made an ear flicker forward as her paw sunk down to the earth, her body low and stiff. The woman growled, wherever she was, and Beltane responded only with silence before she slithered forward several strides until the other was revealed to her; blood cloaked in shadows. It made her make a sound half-way between hiss and growl for a moment as she sunk back half a stride - it reminded her of the shadow that had haunted Thoth in the forest. It was not a sound of fear or anger but rather, confusion as to how such a shadow had been made flesh. Who? Who had she uncovered in the wilds of this world? The world had summoned her here but she was not sure if it was a place she ought to be.
